Here you go. Look at the bottom of post #5, and it shows the Jack handle and ratchet extension I used to make the holes line up.

I can't see the pictures on that site. I guess maybe you have to be a member? Anyway, my holes are waaaaay off. I tried my best to line them up with everything loose and a pry-bar and jack handle. I'm guessing the Founders product is made to a much more exact specification than the sloppy construction of the 80's era GM product. I think I'd have an easier time just plugging the hole and re-drilling it. My thought is to weld up the bracket on the rear end and re-drill since the shock probably doesn't need to be as spot on as the LCA's do. Thoughts?

Try using the jack handle and ratchet extension and persuading it that way. It took me a good long while to get mine to line up.

Put the ratchet extension's square end in the hole first, then slide the jack handle over it, then work the bracket with it.
You could duct tape it too to keep it from slipping off.

It's just not gonna happen. It would have to come over and down 1/2 inch. I can get it to flex over but not down. I think I'm pretty strong, but I don't think my kung-fu is good enough to bend and stretch metal.

My whole rear was up on saw horses, which made it easy to work the "tool" around.
If you weld the bastard in place, I suppose it wouldn't matter about the bolt hole not being perfectly round on both the stock shock mount and the bracket, as long as you only drill the Founder's bracket. :IMO:

I was suggesting just welding the hole shut on the rear end, then put the bracket in place to find out where the a new hole should be drilled to line up with the Founders bracket.

this way nothing needs elongated. Both holes would line up perfectly. But the shock would be 1/2 inch off from it's original position where it mounts to the rear end. I'm guessing 1/2 inch shock adjustment would not cause any problems.

I wouldn't do that. Just drill the founders bracket hole to make it so the threads will go through and then the nut will tighten the shock and bracket. Then I'd weld the founders bracket to the axle tube's bracket. The founders bracket will then be in place and the shock location will be where it's supposed to be.

The elongated hole in the founders bracket won't matter if the bracket is welded to the axle tube bracket.

To me, changing the position of the lower shock mount doesn't sound like a good idea.

I'd bet every one of these cars is slightly different in where the brackets were welded on to the rear end.

I would suggest welding them on. I just cut mine off last weekend and added the Racecraft prostock brackets to help with ride height and add more adjustability.
I had to cut the 2 hole bracket since it was hitting the inside of 15x12 rim. The new brackets hold a 3/4 rod end and do not extend as far to the rim. Otherwise, there would be no room for anymore holes.
The two hole was good enough for 1.17 60's on the rear tires.

This is an old thread but... I just got my Founders LCA relocation brackets and I'm having the same issues with one of the shock mount holes lining up to the bracket on the rear end. I was thinking of welding up the hole on either the Founders bracket or on the rear end bracket and re-drilling the hole. Does anybody see any issues with this? Would you re-drill the new bracket or the mount on the rear end?
