Hawk's Console Lid Reproduction

I finally pulled the trigger on replacing my old, poor, sad, and broken console lid. I usually don't jump for aftermarket, I prefer to find NOS parts, but I didn't even think to do it this time and I got this piece. It is built really nice, but the material seems a little more rough than the OEM material. The curved metal piece seems to be stainless, and not black like OEM. I suppose if it bothered me I'd paint it.

Overall, it fits very nicely and actually seems to be more robust than the OEM piece.

Re: Hawk's Console Lid Reproduction

Yes, it seems like it's reinforced. It doesn't move an inch when you put some weight on it, it's still comfortable support for your elblow/arm, though.

Re: Hawk's Console Lid Reproduction

There's also this option from Thirdgenranch.com:
http://thirdgenranch.com/-strse-1110...oor/Detail.bok

I'm thinking I found the Thirdgenranch one off that car, instead of the hawks one.
The one from Hawks appears Very square in comparison to The thirdgenranch one; which appears more stock shape.

Actarnoff, looks really good. Thanks for sharing the photos. Needing to start on my interior soon and this would be a good start. How much did you pay for the console lid.

Can't go wrong with either one. Both look great.

Good to know companies are starting to make replacement parts for our cars.

Re: Hawk's Console Lid Reproduction

Looks like a nice piece. Could it only seem a little more rough since the original one had 20+ years of wear on it?

Re: Hawk's Console Lid Reproduction

I re-used the bones/structure of the old one; screwed it to plywood; added aircraft quality foam; and covered in xtra leather that I purchased when I purchased the Corbeau seats (the back seats are re-upholstered to match).

Thanks for checking out our products. Please keep looking to us for new reproduction parts for your third gens. We love to hear what people want and need and when we can, we make that a reality. A lot of it relies on demand and cost into molding/manufacturing the product.

Thanks!
