Superior Radiator

I was at the NSRA Nationals North and spoke to one of the owners of Superior Radiators. I can get a direct fit Radiator that is all aluminum 2 core, with 1 inch tubes.

The guy said this setup will cool 40% more than a 3 core brass copper radiator. And it will handle up to 700hp, which is way more than I have.

They build them in house as well.

Anyone ever use Superior Radiator?

Beware of the "direct fit". Maybe I should say be aware of the "direct fit". I would be surprised if it is that direct with 2 rows of 1" tubes. That makes the core nearly the same thickness as the oem tanks. May be a good radiator but the "direct fit" will probably need some massaging on the install like everybody else's 2 row 1" tubes. That being said, I would work to install theirs before I would put in a Champion 3 row 1/2" tube radiator. PM me if you want more info on this. Race pro's are $245 where I come from and nice trans cooler inside. All the 2 row 1" tube radiators I have seen to date are not a "direct fit" and "direct fit" is not the same as "exact fit" for sure. You will find that the rubber insulators are made for a 2 3/8" tank to sit on and the 2 row, 1" tube tanks are typically just under 3" at the same mounting point. He is correct about the 40% because the 3 row brass coppers are almost always 3 rows of 3/8" tubes and pretty much extinct now anyway. They were an industry part number CU750 at one time. Spectra used to make a 3 row 1/2" tube radiator that was some better than the oem, now also pretty much extinct. The "700 hp" is somewhat debatable however the radiator won't fix not enough cooling fans, retarded timing or things like that. I would say 500hp would be more realistic but again, a lot of variables involved.

Re: Superior Radiator

Does there exist a direct fit radiator that is lighter than stock yet cools better?

There is no "Drop in", I picked up a Becool Radiator for my car that was a "direct" fit. I however had to modify the rubber isolators and re-space the fan bracket on the bottom so the fan wouldn't hit the radiator. So, that's pretty close to "drop in replacement" if you ask me. It did run me over $600 for the automatic version of the radiator though. Becool Aluminum 1982-1992 "Direct Fit" radiator for Automatic Transmission

Re: Superior Radiator

Rad cost me about $350.00 plus shipping to Canada.

Rad mock up looks good. Adding dual 4th gen fans to help cooling.

Does it come with an automatic transmission cooler? I have an external one anyway.

In the picture of it laying down, on the right side you can see some tubes/holes that are plugged. That's the transmission cooler that's plugged off.

I think it is internal from GM.

Weight of the rad is 21 lbs (including the box).
