Best tires for my Iroc
Hey Everyone,
I am about to get new tires for my 87 iroc. What tires does everyone recommend? I am looking at the Kumho, Falken, or BF goodrich G force comp. I like the BF G force comp but they are the most expensive out of all the tires. This is more of a summer car and it won't be a daily driver and I usually don't like to drive my camaro in the rain either. My 2nd choice are the Kumho Ecstas. What does everyone think?

I have BFG Radial T/A's on my 1984 Trans AM & had them on my 1972 Buick GS. Tires are good by me. I would have no qualms about buying BFG again.
I have friend with a 1967 Mustang with Falkens on it & likes them. Some guys run Coopers. But your choice.

It's hard to give advice based on the criteria provided. Any tire will work "fine", so get the cheapest that fits and lasts the longest?
I use my car for DD'ing and some track days. Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires were very highly recommended to me, and I doubted for a while...but finally bought some last spring. They are incredible. For DD'ing, they're quiet, smooth, good riding. For track days? The grip is mind boggling, for a street tire. The things I can do with the car on track is borderline, ridiculous, and the car will do it. They're progressive (safe), but incredibly sticky. Awesome tire.

I'm happy with my Toyo R888R on my '89.
Definately not the tires for a daily driver though.
I have BFG G-Force Sport Comp 2 (not the all season model) on my daily driver ('97 RS). I found that after 3 years, the "good" left them as they got hard. Typical of BFG in my experience.

Cooper Cobras are nothing special at all. Same with BFG Radial TA's. Both old, out of date tires.

Re: Best tires for my Iroc
Shortly before Christmas I got a set of General G-Max on clearance at tire rack for less than $500. I've only put a handful of miles on them but they seem decent. Hopefully I'll be able to wear them out unlike my Goodyear GS-C's that met an untimely demise when the right rear picked up a drywall screw and I unknowing drove on it while it was almost flat. Even then I'd probably have to take it somewhere sketchy to get it plugged because they didn't have date codes.

My Michelins have aged out. Falken Ziex 960AS going on as replacements. No miles on them yet, so I can't comment on them.

Hope on tire rack, punch in your size and cry at the limited selection of stock size tires. Then pick what you want

Re: Best tires for my Iroc
Hey Everyone,
I am about to get new tires for my 87 iroc. What tires does everyone recommend? I am looking at the Kumho, Falken, or BF goodrich G force comp. I like the BF G force comp but they are the most expensive out of all the tires. This is more of a summer car and it won't be a daily driver and I usually don't like to drive my camaro in the rain either. My 2nd choice are the Kumho Ecstas. What does everyone think?

several years ago). I would buy a replacement set, but it appears that they have been discontinued. Have you seen someone selling these summer tires? Or were you referring to the A/S ones?
Thanks, John
