thepartsplaceinc. crappy customer service!

Maybe they are better with their bread and butter demographic, whatever vehicle that may be, but when I called today ready to drop 600-700 bucks, the guy that I spoke with was the most disinterested, sarcastic person I have ever dealt with besides the fuhqs at GM Sport Salvage.

I called thepartsplaceinc to inquire on a few items that they list in their online catalog, which has very few images of any of their parts. I wanted to buy felts, t-top weatherstripping, hood louvers, emblems, headliner, and some other junk. I called about the hood louvers because they had listed them on their site for a good price if they were new. I asked if they were OE or repros and he didn't know, "oh wait," puts me on hold, "they are repros just like everyone else sells." I said I don't know of many if any places that sell good quality repro louvers. OK, well how is the quality compared to OEM? "Uh, I dunno we don't sell many 85-90 camaro parts." So I asked, well, can you go look at one and tell me at least whether or not it's decent quality? He said "no," we don't have any pictures or take pictures". I then asked about their return policy, in case I were to order a pair and they were not up to specs. He says "well, if you don't like them, sir(which always pisses me off when they hit you with the fake respect), you can always return them, you pay return shipping and a 25% restocking fee." I then hung up. This after he put me on hold 3 times in the span of 2 minutes.

While they seem to offer decent prices, the fact that such a small operation is not at all willing to try and help a sale really struck a cord with me. I'd advise anyone thinking about dealing with them to call first, and see if maybe you can get someone more knowledgeable and willing to help. I mean ****, if they won't help someone ready to drop 500+ bucks before shipping, how are they going to treat someone buying an emblem? Anyway, long rant, but I just wanted to share. I see their stuff on ebay a lot, not sure if anyone has had a positive experience with them or not, the feedback seems decent.
