FlynBye aka Ed Miller

I wrote this awhile back and was hoping Ed would get this resolved, but still nothing so time to post this up.

Let me start out by saying I appreciate everything ed does for our cars, and I am happy there is someone out there that makes parts we need for our cars. On that note though I have never dealt with worst customer service it's completely unacceptable. If you cant take the time to fix your mistakes, and return customers calls then you should not be selling people parts.

I ordered my c4hd kit march 6th, and at that time on his site he stated there was a 3-4 week waiting period which was fine I was in no huge rush. So 4 weeks go by, and I get an email from him saying my order will be shipped the next day, and he will get me a tracking number. So about a week goes by no response. So for 2 weeks straight I called left voice mails, sent him emails, and even pmed him on here. Absolutely no response from him. Finally I called one day, and finally got a hold of his wife. Who claims she never got any voicemail's from me. So I tell her my situation, and she says she will look into it, and give ed a call at work to find out what happened. So she calls me back later that day, and tells me that they where suppose to get brake pads for my order, and forgot to pick them up. So basically my brake kit was just sitting there for 3 weeks at this time because he had just forgotten about it. So she said they will get it out to me asap.

So finally it arrives at my house the first week of may. That's 9 weeks already I have been waiting. Everything looks good at that point. I had kidney surgery so at that point I couldn't put it on the car yet. About 2 weeks ago I started putting it on, and noticed a problem with the lines not being long enough. I called ed, and his wife answered on the first call surprisingly, and she asked me the problem, and tried to belittle me by asking me If I was sure I was putting them on right? There is really only one way to install brake lines so how would they be wrong? Anyways she told me Ed would call me back that night of course he never did. I did finally get a call the next day, and for the first time actually spoke to ed well it turns out he sent me 1le calipers which I already knew. So I sent him back my calipers, and lines, and he sent me the right calipers, but sent me lines without line holders so no way of securing them to the strut. So I call him the next day and of course no answer so I leave a voicemail. Still no response so I call like 5 more times and leave a voicemail every time. To this day I have never got a call back, and still never got refunded for the 15 bucks it cost to ship the stuff back to him. I had to rig my lines up to the struts for the time being, because I needed to get my car done. So long story short flynbye aka Ed Miller needs to get his stuff together before he sells anything else to anyone. I have given up on him ever fixing my situation maybe this thread will persuade him to fix his mistakes.

Yeah I am aware of baer's lines and im 99% sure this is what he sent me but all of the pics on his site show them with line clips, and the original set he sent me that I sent back had them. It still unacceptable for him not to return calls regarding them after how much money I spent with him.

Its a shame that he's going down in flames like this. He used to be much better. I guess I should be happy that I got my stuff 4 years ago when he was "good".

this is one of the reasons I got my C5 brakes from bigbrakeupgrade.com, shipped within 2 weeks, and all my emails where replied to within a day or 2 at the very most.

I wouldn't call one customer issue "going down in flames".

Many happy customers on this board (and elsewhere).

just sayin.....

Re: FlynBye aka Ed Miller

This is good to know. I am in need of an upgrade and if Ed is not reachable then I do not wish to do business with him. Which is a shame, because whenever anyone who is not a member of thirdgen.org asks about brake upgrades to their thirdgen I have always recommended they register here and research Ed Miller as one of their options.

I'm in a slightly similar customer service right now and but I won't air his name publicly yet.

But the lesson I hope Ed and other self employed business owners learn is as follows. You can have the greatest products for the best prices. But if you can't communicate with your customers, meet deadlines, and uphold your word your products are worth jack squat. People can easily forgive mistakes if you correct them and communicate. But if you fail to respond in a timely manner and consistently screw up then no one will want to do business with you. Its not worth the hassle.

You cant go wrong ordering from Scott at bigbrakeupgrade. Customer service was top notch, and turnaround time was excellent.

As for Ed. Him and his wife are great to deal with "if" you can get ahold of them.

Re: FlynBye aka Ed Miller

I did recieve everything I ordered from him, although it took about 2 months to get, and he was in the middle of his move and all, but everything is on and all seems to work so far, had a slight problem with a front C4 caliper I swapped with him, but some clean up and it works fine now, all the lines fit real nice, brackets fit good, no probs.

Re: FlynBye aka Ed Miller

I have purchased from Ed in the past and had good luck. However I live close to 92RS(real slow) and have helped with some of the build. After experiencing what has happened, I'll never deal with Ed unless things change drastically.

A few months ago, I actually sent him a PM offering to help him in any way I could. I hate to see a vendor with good product fail, so I offered to help stock parts for him or handle orders. My thought was for him to just send me bulk orders of parts, I'd assemble the kits and ship them out. I wasn't trying to horn in on his designs or profit, I just wanted to find a way to help him manage his customer volume. As I suspected I never got a response.

I realize everyone's lives are busy from time to time, but I feel that Ed is missing out on a gold mine because of terrible customer service that could be easily avoided. It's a shame that it has come to this. The community is losing valuable resource.
