SFC Suggestions for Quickjack

I received my quickjack today and only as I received did I stumble across that you need to either have SFC's or build a proper brace to distribute the load. So it'll work fine for my camaro but my TA is mostly stock and I've been wanting to pick up a set of SFC's for it anyway. I just want to be sure they protrude past the pinch weld and have enough base for me to feel comfortable using the blocks on them when lifting the car. Since this is basically my stock fair weather daily I'm not worried about getting the best overall SFC and I'd love to stay under $250.

So does anyone have any recommendations for some ideally somewhat budget friendly weld-in SFC's that might be a bit larger than others where they protrude below the pinch weld. Obviously there's a lot out there and I was just going to order based off pictures and calling but figured I'd ask here based off what people have on their cars. I was about to order a set of Spohn weld in SFC's but they look like they tuck up a lot.

I was going through the ones listed in the sticky thread and the comp sfc's look like what I'm imagining, and they're almost too cheap at under $200 about everywhere https://www.ws6store.com/product/82-...me-connectors/
Scratch that, I see now they require cutting the floorpan, not something I'm interested in. Still taking suggestions! I did learn UMI would work with it but if there's a cheaper option anyone suggests I'll give it a couple days before I order some. Thanks!

Re: SFC Suggestions for Quickjack

I've used my quickjack on my '87 Camaro multiple times by the pinch weld and haven't had any issues. I've quickjack'd multiple vehicles by the pinch welds including a convertible SN95 mustang, close to half the lineup of GM C1 crossovers, a Pontiac Vibe with 200k, and my '23 Camaro. Probably wouldn't do it if the floors or rockers were suspect though.

Good to know - i guess I was mostly concerned after going through this thread here regarding third gen frame rails being uneven causing an issue with load distribution on a quickjack.

Is your camaro otherwise factory? The 88 is super clean underneath so shouldn't be an issue. My own almost 200k mile vibe though not so much lmao

Re: SFC Suggestions for Quickjack

I've got through floor subframe connectors, but they are way inboard and I do not use them for jacking or even supporting the vehicle in any way. It's also super rigid, if I put it up on four jack stands one almost never makes good contact because the floor isn't exactly even.

*edit* I don't have any rocker skirts so I can place the blocks wherever. On my modern cars there are big enough cutouts to accommodate the blocks, don't know about on a third gen.

Re: SFC Suggestions for Quickjack

I used Global West weld in subframe connectors. They attach at the rear control arm pad and extend to the firewall. It is a bent round tube style that is stitch welded to the pinch seams. I have used them as a jack point for floor jacks and two post lifts. You could probably set the car on the Quick Jack rails with no blocks since the subframe connectors are slightly lower than the pinch seams.

Re: SFC Suggestions for Quickjack

Thanks for the feedback all!
I was looking into the GW actually cause I remember it worked well on my 91 formula back in 2009, but I kind of ended up forgetting Midwest Chassis is a thing and fairly close here so I picked up a set through them after i had a buddy who has em sent me a pic of his and they're about exactly what I want as far as looking like a decent jacking SFC that will also be good on the road.

Soon as I get them I'll get my car on my buddy's lift and have him weld them up.

I didn't get to set up my quick jack until late last night and my garage is a cluster right now and I didn't feel like trying on the TA after I pulled it in next to the camaro. I did slide them under the camaro and then this whole time I thought the car had welded SFC's they're bolt in (been almost 2 years since I was driving the car at all and I bought the car with the SFC's already). I wasn't going to bother getting it running until i had a new fuel system in it but now I'll probably do a quick wire job on the sender harness just to drive it there also for him to weld my sfc's so I can feel safe about using the quickjack with them. The way it is now I definitely am not seeing how I can safely use it with the camaro, or my TA but I feel like I won't know for sure until I get it under the TA tonight and check.

This is essentially the issue that I'm having, so besides getting SFC's which I need anyway - I'm going to have my welding buddy fab me a more heavy duty steel version of the brace in this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...ck-5000-a.html
