Running Lean
I fired my new 383 last night and it is running very lean on the drivers side. It is a 383 with a holley stealth ram, the old tune is for a mild 355 with stock induction, and 24# injectors. I am now running 36# injectors patriot heads and comps e503 cam with a HSR. Any Ideas, I am going to check the timing and fuel pressure tonight then I guess try to get a tune.

Re: Running Lean
Are you checking plugs or how do you know it's lean only on the drivers side? I run HSR and haven't noticed this on my 5.7, regardless of tune. Fuel delivery is pretty fool proof, at least with MAF. Our injectors are "batch" fire so there shouldn't be any differance in the PW from cylinder to cylinder. Distribution seems ok left to right in mine. I've been more concerned about front to rear due to the TB location and that big plenum. The stock plenum is tapered front to rear giving the front cylinders a better chance to "grab" air then it gets smaller twards the back.
Anyway, have you checked the fuel crossover on the front of the fuel rails? Maybe a kinked line there would starve the injectors on the left bank???
Another observation. I've noticed the TB is positioned closer to the drivers side. I think this is probably due to the throttle linkage. Don't really think this would cause a lean condition on the cylinders closest but...

Re: Running Lean
I noticed it because My header was glowing red on the drivers side, I am going to check the fuel pressure and the plugs tonight. I didn't think a tune would cause this but I am still learning. I have checked the fuel lines, I did that before firing it. I am really stumped I cant imagine what would cause this. I am going to go through it all tonight, but any help is greatly appreciated. Owe, it was running good except for a surge in idle, no missing like if an injector wasn't working. I don't know?????

I am also running a speed density... forgot that.....

Re: Running Lean
Going to check the timing tomorrow, what is up with the schrader valve being so small?? Can I get one to go in there that is normal size??

Re: Running Lean
Yep. Get an A/C valve (it's the same tapered fitting with a schrader valve) for the older style R12 systems with a 1/8" mpt. Most auto parts stores should have them. I put a brass 90' elbow so the valve points to the side. That made it easier to get the pressure gauge on.
