Interesting intake, anyone ever seen something like this?

I was browing ebay and came across this very strange intake, looks like something someone made, not like a production piece, but its neat..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TUNNE...Q5fAccessories

I don't know much about intakes and what-not but I know alot of people are interested in one of a kind intakes and this one caught my eye..

Definately odd. looks like an old dual quad manifold with some debauchery on the top.

Cheers!!

GADS! I guess the two pipes coming out of the plenum are where the throttle bodies attach? The way the injector bungs are welded on they will spray against the far intake wall. That thing gives me a headache looking at it.

they will spray against the far intake wall.

Major invention fail there

As said above could be an old dual quad or cut up tunnel ram.
Is there an opening in front for a TB?

How come rednecks have aluminum welders but guys who actually know how to build performance engines don't?

It may have been a shop class project. Students who know nothing are learning how to weld with some nicer technology welders.

Just a humble guess

Re: Interesting intake, anyone ever seen something like this?

Wow are there really 2 injectors per runner? Thats some rice rocket logic right there. And who need throttle blades there just a restriction. Its really sad because who ever did it appears to have some welding/fabrication skills and creativity just lacking a some design knowledge. If they just did a little homework and had an idea what they were doing they might have actually made something pretty cool.

I seen that on ebay too, they said its for a twin turbo setup. I thought to myself how the hell will a person control the throttle.

Re: Interesting intake, anyone ever seen something like this?

maybe the plan for the throttle was to put it on right behind the filter so he'd have more plenum than he'd know what to do with

ign on- ign off- ign on - ign off. come to stop. ign off, clutch pedal in. engine revs a bit. light changes clutch out.

Can always put the TB before the turbo(s). Its almost never used though
