Buying a used HSR
I have the chance to buy a used HSR for 650 including injectors. I was wondering if theres anything I need to worry about when buying it and of 650 is a good price for a used HSR

Re: Buying a used HSR
Just check the machined surfaces are straight and square ; no warping
Depends what else is included in the deal ( TB , fuel line fittings , AFPR ??? ) how good and what type injectors
Have been better deals on here
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...injectors.html
A shiny new HSR and fuel rails can be had for under $600
$340 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WND-7540/
$250 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-534-186/ ( with adjustable fuel reg , rails cheaper with the non adjustable reg)

Re: Buying a used HSR
My first post but I'll jump in here. I got mine used. I got the HSR, complete rails, a BBk 58mm TB, injectore are ??? (I'm here learning about it) MSD dizzy, a spare MSD dizzy cap, MSD coil, (2) commander 950's and the wiring harness. All for $900, i think your over paying or I got the hook up. Anyone recognize my list, I believe the stuff was bought on here before it was sold to me.

Sounds like I'm over paying. No afpr or throttle body. New accel injectors. I thought HSRs ran closer to 1300 usually. Buying a new one might be better since I'll need the vortec intake pattern anyway

Re: Buying a used HSR
You can't make a reg HSR work on Vortec heads anyway ; the intake ports are a completely different shape
and the bolt patterns are different
This HSR intake

with the fuel rails I linked above

Re: Buying a used HSR
I finally got a chance to look at those links and I've decided I'm not buying the used one.
Do I need two sets of the Fuel rails linked above? What ECM and wiring harness do I use? Standard TPI?

Re: Buying a used HSR
The fuel rails are a set of two ; one for each side and the crossover tube that runs between them
There are two Holley rail kits available;
# 534-185 has a fixed fuel regulator
#534-186 (in the link ) which has a adjustable regulator
The supplied Holley regulators give problems (leaks ) so buy the cheaper non adj rail kit and you won't be out of pocket so much later on
when you have to buy the Kirban adjustable reg everybody swaps to on their HSR
Yes and a small cap dist if you don't already have one.
Most likely will need a retune of the TPI computer to optimize performance after intake swap

Will do. I don't think i have the small dist cap. Can these intake handle around 450 HP? I was reading that they struggle to make 400.

Re: Buying a used HSR
Mine made over 400rwhp and over 500rwt but I welded it and ported it to match a set of brodix track 1 heads. We bolted the entire assembly together and it flowed just over 300cfm. My regulator took a crap and it never ran like it should but I have a kirban now and have to install it and finish it.

Re: Buying a used HSR
Not that much between them
See
http://xtremecarzone.com.au/index.php?showtopic=386
and the HSR makes better torque down low (which is what gets you going )
MR is good if you want to spin to 7K

Re: Buying a used HSR
Mine spins to 7 and its a 406. Would probably do a little better with a miniram but a daily driven car likes a hsr a little better. Mine has been so altered that it is probably very close to a miniram if not a little better. Mine flows 306 through the entire induction; 58mm throttle body, HSR and ported Track 1 heads at 28 inches of water. I would like to test my HSR against a miniram on a large aggressive sbc on a dyno. The stock fuel reg is a piece of junk and the only thing I can swear at. Got a Kirban though just have to install it and finish the car.
