Car: 1991 Corvette Coupe
Engine: L98
Transmission: 700R4/4L60 same trans different name
IROC= Italian Retard Out Cruising

i think, that with that stigmata, it an IROC will work against your effect, which is a horrible excuse to buy a car anyway

Please don't take this the wrong way, but the fact that you're trying to achieve a certain "image" with a car means you've already defeated the purpose. Don't worry about the image you portray, man. Just have fun with a car you enjoy!

That won't work. What you need is 'Camaro hair', a stained wife beater and a chained wallet. Chicks love that look. LOL

1991 Camaro RS
305 TBI, Auto, power windows, power locks, power hatch, cruise, hypertech chip, edelbrock open element air cleaner, 2.73 Rearend

HUH? I think you need to re-evaluate what you have and get your priorities straight. You do have a 1991 RS. And now you're talking about going for the look of a Firstgen? Then you say... Iroc with a 5.7?
What?
How can an IROC-Z give you the look of a 69 Camaro?

I am still unravelling what he is trying to say....

Maybe it's too much TV influencing him and he wants to be famous or "popular" and thinks that he can do it with the right automobile?
All the wrong reasons. You don't get your car to impress others. You get your car because YOU like it.

I don't think I would get a car I don't personally like because everyone else likes it. How stupid!

Dude around here its like this in terms of what chicks dig.

Highschool= exspensive and glam.., regardless of performance and actual driveablity (SUV's Luxo barges, lots of japanese high end)

College=a guy with a car is great, a guy with a car that is nice is even better

post college-40= 4doors, suv or fwd minivan or car
post 40's= it better be cool or it ain't gonna be driven (my mom likes my camaro so figure it ou)

The thing is you buy these cars for their performance or looks (or both if you're lucky and smart), not to be classified as such and such kind of person. I find chicks still dig my rs even though she is pretty ruff around the edges simply because its a v8 camaro. Then again there were alot of chicks in high school that though my gremlin was cute.

None of this has anything to do with history and or restoration of a third gen. It seems to me that the topic is about "image". Therefore, I'm moving this to the Appearance Board.

You have GOT to be kidding me. Aight man, listen.. the car does NOT make the person. The person makes the car. Plain and simple. I've had my 88' IROC since my junior year in HS and nobody has ever not liked it. Chics love my car. The general public.. loves my car, lol. Why? Because chics, my friends, and everyone around tends to LIKE ME. Currently my car has a white, un-painted daytona hood on a gunmetal grey car... and chics STILL Dig my car!! Dude, you could buy a ferrari.. if nobody likes YOU, their still gonna say.. "look at that loser, thinks he's cool in his ferrari."

If they like you.. your golden, cause thats all that matters. Gettin an IROC-Z just for a "movies" Look is obserd. You either got charisma or ya don't. No car will help your "image" - and what does this look like? The Fast and the Furious? Just be yourself man, and whatever happens - happens. Don't try and change your life with a car.

Later,
Joe

When was the last time a girl asked you to see what your runnin under your hood???

The 5.7 in the IROC won't help you get girls,

unless of course this is Mission Impossible and the girl you want tells you that if you catch her in a race you can have her.....

While the idiot girls think that guys with nice cars and a loud exhaust have to make up for something else they lack in bed..... ......, too many ladies to prove wrong, not enough time.......

my 92 v6 t-top RS does the trick, but it could just be me

I know a guy who goes to my school who thought he could get all the girls that if he bought a camaro (black 87 sport coupe w/350 and cheesy IROC decals on the GFXless car that wouldn't fool my grandparents) and now everyone hates him even more....

so instead of buying a new car, why not have fun with what you have, and be a friendlier person?

yeah dude... really...
when i first rolled into the high school parking lot with my red IROC t-top 5.0 i had instant attention ...it sounded the meanest outta any car. I didn't get any respect from / immediately get any new friends. But everyone did notice... but i had been talking about it for a long *** time, and it jsut reflected my personality because i put a new engine in it... and that boggled everyone's mind because it wasn't a 3-stage spoiler or cheesy windshield lettering. Everyone was like "oh really?? you put the engine in this car huh??..... what's an engine?". Just goes to show you how much people know in general about car...if it's not soemthing flashy or cheesy import exhaust, they dont' know what it is... Girl's nowadays like the rice. But there had been many times i had pulled up next to a whiney-loud-***-exhaust, stupid-***-winged, odd colored ***** who had some hot girl in his car...and with my t-tops down, i looked over, revved and blew him away...i mean BLEW HIM AWAY. when i did this though, it wasn't for the girl, i mean, i'm in a somewhat serious relationship and i'm sticking to it... but when i had revved and kicked the cheesy kids' ***, those girls knew they the guy sitting next to them was a little P*ss*. These guys need something to make up for what they lack in bed...

EDIT: When i got my car, my girlfriend was pissed... i mean, she absolutely loves the car (bonus!) but she knew i was a no- bullsh*t, straight-to-the-point guy. She knew that other girls would tremble because of how much smarter and "cooler" i was than these modern day ricers with a 1.8L and cold air intake...believe me, because of what my personality was and what i transformed the car into, i got so many looks from random girls that just have that look on their face like "i want you".

REMEMBER: it's not the car that makes the man... it's the man that makes the car.
i can't wait to see what i can do with this 91 Z...

Screw that. Get/build what you want. Girl's will like you despite your car, and if you're lucky, they'll start to appreciate why you drive whatever crate you like. Most of the time that I was dating my wife I was driving my '83, in roughly the shape that its in in the pictures of my sig. Once you get inside it is really easy to forget it's ratty appearance and enjoy the handling...

If you need a car to pick up chicks, you're picking up the wrong ones. If you still want them, get a porsche, viper, maybe a vette...

exactly. see, i'm a junior in high school, and you have to realize, some deuschbag in a good lookin car isn't gonna get any action...the only reason my car gets me any respect is because everyone knows the man behind it. I'll stop, and people say, nice car i heardyou pretty much had to build it. Even the rich kids respect the fact that i wrenched it to the way it is, and earned about every penny to do it. (except for the radiator hose my mom bought me last week, lol) But girls will tell me "i like your car" even though theres some people at school with alot nicer lookin cars than mine. for example, a rich wanna-be gearhead has a 6-cyl 96 mustang with a ***** wing and cobra badging, and he gets no extra respect from everyone, even with the thousands of dollars invested in his stereo crap, still, people are like whatever...and theres some 6 cyl thirdgens at school with perfect paint, and no one takes a second look. But, when my 305 cranks up in the parking lot, they just say "lets see what gordy is up to" and talk. Keep in mind, my car has faded paint and a dented in fender and bent hood. but i built it up...so my girl loves it like it was her baby too!

I don't even know what to say.
SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wanna pick up the ladies you go buy an 85 3/4 ton Chevy truck. Jack it up (even if it's 2WD) and put on big tires, dual CB antennas, dual glass packs, and a nice shade of primer. You won't be able to beat them off.

Car to pickup chicks

If you want a car to pickup chicks buy a Viper or Vette. This says I have money, and most women are goldiggers.

Re: Car to pickup chicks

Maxim did an article not to long ago about what kind of cars to buy to pick up girls........

They mentioned the 2nd Gen Firebirds more specifically a white one with the big blue bird on the hood......

it's the man the makes the car, i'm telling you...when girls see you out-perform a faster/better car.. the only thing they can imagine is what you'd do IN that faster/better car... and then you're golden.

i defentally agree with everyone else. at my school theres alot of other cars that look alot better than mine but i know i can blow them away anyday. theres a 2002 camaro with a licence plate that says "cash" (the kids name is cash...) but thats not his real name, man his parents are stuck on him. anyway the girls are doing nothing but using him for his car, every day i see his car full of girls that hes taking home but then in the hallway when i talk to them they talk alot of crap on him and laugh at him, same way with the 2001 mustang (the kid tore the crap out of it, its a POS now!!! HAHA!) and the 2000 mustard yellow POS honda (the kid tried the do it yourself method of painting it, he didnt prep it AT ALL! he just sprayed it and covered the glass) if you want to impress a girl ask another guy something about his car, when he says "i dont know" sound like you know more about his than he does. works every time!

Do what you want, you get what you get, my car turns EVERYONES head,

I had a truck full of guys with a green turn arrow (coming towards me) stop in traffic in the middle of the intersection to stare at me car.

My girlfriends sister bugs me all the time to cruise in my car, she gets the back seat of course, but she dont care

Its like every car group loves my car for some reason. I dunno, but my point is like I said ...you get what you get. Build it how you want it.

Now I may have not got the message clearly, but here's my take.

Don't tell him not to do it for image. EVERYONE'S ride is chosen because of image. That's OK as long as it is YOU who makes the choice. For example, If YOU like rice...fine. If you don't like rice, but portray that image because is "in", then that's a problem. If you dress preppy...that's just as much an image is alternative. It's no different than what kind of clothes you wear. As long as you do what makes YOU happy.

As far as the 1st gen 3rd gen thing. I don't think he meant he wanted it to LOOK like a first gen, as much as he meant he wanted the "muscle" image. Heck, fords and mopars have the same "muscle" image....yet they dont LOOK the same.

As far as the IROC image....

No thirdgen carries a negative reputation quite as much as an Iroc. But at the same time, no thirdgen owners have quite as much of an instant bond as us Iroc owners. Don't understand? Yeah, that's cuz you don't have an Iroc.

try this....Instant Respect Omongst Comrades...OK, it was a stretch! Sorry. LOL

Exactly, drive what you want. I had people tell me that the 3rd gen firbirds are crapola and that such and such car will smoke it ( like Johnathan that I know from high school, he has a CRX with like three diffrent color body parts three wheeled spokes that are missing the middle caps, he had some one put in what he claims is a racing engine and he put on a high flow cat) and I had others tell me I just wanted the car to get chicks and I just looked at them like what the , I just want a 92 trans am just because I like the car, nothing more nothing less. Drive what you want people, no matter what you want there will always be people that love your car or hate your car.

It just doesnt happen aroudn here, the person pulls the chicks, irocs.....ehh.unless the girl drives an iroc or thirdgen, you aint gonna get no respect around here. EVERYONE'S ride is chosen because of image.

I bought my '83 T/A because it's a cool car and it's fun to drive. I'm married and 25 years old, so "I don't give a rat's behind" (-Matt Foley) about what kind of image I portray.

Ditto here. Married, 26 years old, with THREE kids! (and no, I don't even try to cram everybody in the camaro...that is what the family Escort is for) True, I got my car for free, and I would still like to have a 96 Shelby GT 350 Mustang, but I have always liked thirdgen camaros...even my stepmom's old 92 6-cyl. It may just be the area that I live in, which is pretty rural, but I get looks when I take it out. Of course, the dual glasspacks kinda draw attention whenever I fire it up, but still... At the moment, my Camaro looks like a prop from Joe Dirt...fading paint, home-applied red stripes around the cowl scoop (I did not do that!!!) extremly dirty stock rims, broken weatherstripping, etc, etc. I don't care how it looks now, because I can see how it will look when I am done fixing it up. As I told my friend when she pointed out that it is not a practical car for a family..."dosen't matter, it is my car, the Escort is the family car, and the Camaro is wicked fun to drive!" I would post pics, but the site keeps telling me that they are too large, and I haven't found time to resize them yet. It is not about the car. The only girls that look at the car without looking at the guy are only after the guy for what he can give them in regards to material things or popularity points. I was not overly popular in high school...more "well known"...my car at that time was a beat up old '76 Toyota Corolla, and I always had one or two girls riding in it.

I bought mine for PU**Y! J/K Ever since i was 13 when i first saw an IROC, i had wanted one. Sure the only difference is some decals and wheels on the outside but i thought they were sharp looking cars back when i was 13. So when my niehbor got rid of it, i decided that i really wanted one. I saved my money and was able to get a really nice one, with the help of my parents, of course.

If you want a car that chicks dig, buy a silver Eclipse convertable.

But if you need a car to get chicks, theres something else wrong with you.

All that I can say is this, a girl will lust after you because of the things you can buy her and how good you can make her look. A woman will love you because she enjoys your company and you make her feel lucky to have you in her life. Guys don't feel so bad. A chick with a third gen Trans am and Iron Duke Firebird dosen't get squat for respect. Especially if she builds and works on it herself. Then again, I bought Arnie and Ta because they were fun to drive and Firebirds fit who I am as a person. Not for a painted picture I would rather have the world see of me.

so "I don't give a rat's behind" (-Matt Foley) about what kind of image I portray.
Maybe he'd get more chicks WHEN HE'S LIVIN IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!!!

Oh yeah, and chicks that hook up with a guy just because they like the car aren't the ones you want. hell i met my girl with the firebird put away already and the winter beater broken. It's all about the dude in the car, but mentioning the car never hurts. Just remember, it's a car, not a crutch! Chicks dig a really nice guy.

Ok guys.... I think my girl summed it all up.

Rice and mustangs = cute
Camaros and birds = hot.

Now She isnt after me b/c of my car and money.. in fact i lack in both... but she does like it a lot, and she loves driving it.... (some times im soooooo scared.)

Really tho man.. dont buy an IROC for an image.. unless your over 50... then i understand.

Car: too many ...
To me the muscle car image is a huge 4000-5000 pound block of iron that handles like a sailboat powered by a huge displacement carb'd engine getting 5 mpg doing 90 foot burnouts with the front wheels in the air ... oh and it wakes up your neighborhood when you start it up in the morning. I dont think 3rd gens fit in this category because they are lighter, handle good, and use EFI. They can still satisfy the speed/power craving but different from the traditional muscle image in my head. But its just my opinion.

Man i guess i will have to sell my 77 TA S/E and get a white 2nd gen firebird with a big blue bird on the hood. Bummer. But the real reason i bought my Camaro and Trans Am are because i fell in love with the car.
