GT 40 Paint Job

*ducks potential anti-Ford flames*

http://www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/concept_photos.asp

Okay, so anyways, I've been surfing their website, and it seems like every paint job on the new Ford GT looks really, really good. Granted, that's a given since they only wanna show you the really cool stuff, but still.

So, has anyone got similar paint jobs? I know some people have racing stripes, but has anyone done the yellow w/ black combo? Or the blue car with the red nose/stripe deal? Seeing those paint jobs makes me wonder how they'd look on one of ours.

Pics are bonus.

Those color combos have been around for years....back in the early days: colors would show what country the car was built in, USA was blue/white, England was green/yellow and so on....later change to team colors. You can't count how many cars w/ "racing strips". There are alot of Camaro's with them, it looks good (IMHO) more so on the 1st and 2nd gens.
Please don't call it a GT-40 (one thing it's taller) and it's riding on the coat tails of another "good" car that was so screw'd up until the Britts fix'd it. And Ford really didn't beat the Ferrari Factory at the time...it beat the sports car team....Ferrari Factory main efforts was in F-1 at that time. Think about this; why didn't the GT-40 continue to win...917 a "great" historic car, countless wins (great designs can be refined and have long lifes in racing).
Sorry to rant..just hate what collectors of the 80's-90's have given to the 60's-70's sports racing cars that my father was so heavily involved and loved.

If ford keeps coming out with so many cool cars, and GM keeps dropping all of their sports cars, I'm going to be a Ford guy real soon.

Oh yeah... IBTL

THink of it this way..who in there right mind is going to spend more then $40,000 US for one of those stupid looking Rustangs. I personally like the late model stang, not this new funky body style. Far to exspensive! I could buy just about any Hot Rod I want with $40,000 US..It sure as hell wouldn't be a Ford. I could buy a used 98 Vette or something for less even.

I know racing stripes have been around awhile, I was just wondering if anyone's tried the exact setup or something real close to it in those pic pages. I especially like that blue w/ the red nose and stripe, though I don't think that could really work on any of ours. Anyone wanna try a photochop?

And I didn't know the color schemes used to represent countries, that's pretty cool. Learn somethin' new every other day (I don't pay as much attention as I should).

Dude, just because GM made the dumb mistake of dropping the f-body, and dooping the Monte and Malibu into FWD econo cars doesnt mean the cars have been banished from ownership. I personally will never get a ford. I dont care how good they look or how well the perform. As far as it goes, i will always own a camaro. Even if i have to always buy used.

Whoa, now........It's not like dropping the f-body is the only thing that GM screws up. What don't you/we like about ford? It's that we all pledge our loyalty to GM. But doesn't GM have to uphold that standard that won our loyalty to begin with? Yes, it does....and currently, it isn't. The latest of a loooooong list of things is the GTO. HSV creates a great car overseas. Cool. Granted they're kinda owned by GM....but that's just a technicality. So GM then flexes it's muscle, all but steals the car, and rebadges it as a GTO!!! Does the General think that the GM faithful like this? Sure the car performs, but a good marketing job will only carry the GTO so far. A true GTO it is not....and never will be. The rich and trendy will no doubt park one next to there other flavor of the month cars.........it's a shame. I hope that the camaro/firebird never are done wrong like that.

Ford then of course answers the demise of the f-body with Mach ones, SC Steedas and a Cobra that has set it's sights on the next GM muscle car...the C5. Of course...the Vette really does need some competition, ever since GM conceded that the viper was the new "King of the Hill".

I don't like ford either, but it's really only because of the little bit of GM loyalty I have left. Think about it, if you were born yesterday, and had to pick a "brand", would you choose GM? Honestly....I wouldn't.

Sorry.......Rant mode off.

I like the color schemes. I always loved the GT40. At least Ford made the GT40 look very, very similar to the original. Thats why I like the new GT40. Does it have the 351 too?

I really don't like how GM tries to bring back the GTO that looks exactly like the Grand Prix - WTF! I know GM has to save money and use an existing platform, but they should at least make it look different enough, or at least look somewhat like the GTO.

It may have the performance similar to the GTO of the day, but it will never be the same or have the same feeling. Might as well just bring the F-body back. Stick with what works and what people have always liked and loved. Looks like the Vette is the only true high performance sports car in GMs catalog. There are some other quick cars in GM's lineup, but most of them are family orientated.

How about bringing back the GN too. I wish.

Loyalties aside, kudos to what Ford is doing these days performance wise, and shame on GM. I fell in love with the new GT-40 when I first saw it at the Atlanta Auto Show. BTW, Ford DID beat Ferrari. Ferrari was most certainly involved in sports car racing until the mid-70's, after the GT-40 and then the Porche 917's had kicked them all over the track. Also, the GT-40 ceased to be dominant only when Ford quit backing the program. Then, and only then, did the 917 become dominant. That is the nature of sports car racing. Audi R8's have dominated for a few years now, but will be off the radar this coming season, because Audi is dropping the program.

i for one, i really dont care what GM does in the near future, because chances are, i wont be able to afford it anyway
i have a better chance of being able to afford a 69 camaro way before a brand new one
i'd prolly rather have the 69 also..............
