actually i like it better with the hood bird, i dont know for some reason it looks good with it, maybe its the color or something , but it just looks good. Looking good, i think u should put a windshield banner back on , one that says pontiac. the one that is one the turbo cars.

Yeah, it looked nicer with the bird on the hood. Still a very nice car though.

I'll disagree and say that a little decal on the nose would be nice, I'm not in for those huge banners and decals, unless it's a TTA, those look cool with the stickers. Maybe a GTA emblem on the nose?

Its hard to tell cause the pic with the bird is in good sunlight and looks freshly waxed the second with it off doesn't seem to be a good day for great pics.

words cannot express how much I liked the bird on that hood. Having seen the car in person - it was perfect. The bird matched the silver decals perfectly and really set off a hood that came on
Trans Ams since 1985.
As long as you think you're improving it - that's what counts I guess.

Great Job. Thanks for un-r1ce-ing your car. People are too eager to r1ce up their cars with stickers and such. It's nice to see someone who un-rices their car.

The big hood bird although a trademark of these cars since the early 70's never looked right to me on the 3rd gens, however I did find yours very tastefully done an dit actually looked good. I think it looks good with it clean also so you can't lose on this one. I was surprised by how many people posted really liking the bird I thought it would get more thumbs down. Long live the screaming chicken!!

I think it looks awesome either way! Bird or no bird. I think with the Bird and w/o the windshield banner would look good too. Just matter of personal preference. Awesome car nonetheless!
Yes, you could get a 'bird on the hood of third gens "stock." I think 84-86 Trans Ams you could? Not sure on the exact years and whatnot, but you could. There's already been two other people in this thread who have said this also.

Now thats what Im talking about. Thats the way I think. I just got tired of seeing it on the car. It looked out of place on that hood. When i get my ram air Hood I will put it back on.

Throwing stickers on your car is pretty borderline r1ce ........ Taking them off is borderline "de-r1cing" pretty simple....... IMO Not to many stickers on show cars...

It's gay on a thirdgen. It's r1ce. That's my opinion. It's like putting a big wing on the car. But, like I said, that's my opinion ... and I am kinda radical on that opinion. I don't like the stupid gay hood vents on my stock IROC hood. They're total r1ce.

I'm all for the small logo on the nose; would love to see it. The hood decal was well-done, but I think it looks better without it.
Traxion, I can't for the life of me figure out how you became a moderator while you purposely undermine the server's censoring rules by writing things like "r1ce." Your opinion is gay. But that's just my opinion.

Either way looks nice, but in my opinion I would keep the bird. If it looks like one, fly's like one, then its gotta be a bird..... a firebird

For my taste, birdless hood =
For some reason I was never much of a fan of the screaming chicken...on the thirdgens. I have a black '79 Y84 Trans Am with the extra-groovy Smokey & the Bandit gold hood bird and absolutely LOVE the look, but I guess the more simplified style of the third-gen bird logo just doesn't look right to me. The hood is otherwise a simple and elegant design, and the bird doesn't look natural -- especially with the placement of the dual vents. Rather, I think the reduced bird decal usually seen on the apex of the front clip is just right.
Good move on taking off the T/A decal on the windshield too. Was too small and looked awkward IMHO. I had an ugly FIREBIRD stick-on banner on my Formy when I bought it and took it off as well. I think the big, white-letter PONTIAC banners are nice but in keeping with the sleek and elegant look of your T/A, I'd probably leave the windshield blank. All up to you, though -- your car, your preferences!
BTW, I saw your original post back when you picked up this car and thought it was a great find. Very, very nice Trans Am. Only thing I did not like about it at the time was the hood bird...

Traxion, no one is questioning your right to have and express an opinion. It's the manner in which you express it that's shocking, especially from a Moderator. Throwing around the r1ce word that often starts flame wars is bad enough. Calling what people do with their cars "gay" is even worse. However, you did a great job of showing the quality of your character. Top it off with the incorrect assertion that no hood birds came on thirdgens and people will question why you're a moderator. Simple enough.
