Wanted: Pics of all different size 16 inch tires on pontiacs!!!!!

hi i just piicked up a set of 16inch wheels for my firebird i think im going to make a trans am replica with now. And i want to see the difference buy looks when runing 215/60/16 compared to 245/50/16 and any other size combos out there only in 16" tho.

Please post pics of 215 and 245 and different series so i can judge on what i should put on for rubber. Keep in mind 215/60/16 are alot cheaper as i think i can find used and i know there is no used 245/50/16 anywere so its only new and thats too much $$ right now.

go with the 245 , the 215 is a little to narrow for a trans am , come on 245's.

here are pics of 215/55/16's on the back of my car. I had these tires mounted on a spare set of wheels simply to waste away (they were used). let me tell you first hand, the tires are SIGNIFICANTLY more narrow from the back, compared to the 245's (that's my car in 82firebirdta's post). my pics aren't the best at conveying this, but trust me.. from the rear view, its as if i went back to the base firebird 15x7's that my car originally had. GET 245'S... that is all

I use Cooper ZPTs on mine.

As for the 225/60/16's avoid em, They are too tall for the front wheel wells and you will get some serious rubbing if you do any sort of sharp turning, especially during parking. I bought my car with em on there and they are just too tall for the wheel wells, I had to replace the wheel well covers because they were almost worn through from tire rubbing. Also screwed up the alignment as well.

you think they will rub on my firebird... I think the springs are a bit different as mine sits pretty high... im sure its higher then your ta.....
take a look....
theres 70series 15" on there now and i was thinking even a 225/60/16 may be abit better an actually smaller around. maybe not... mmm does anyone have a good tire caculator that can figure out diameter or circumferance sizes by imputing the tire sizes?? Id like to figure our how much more all the way around a 225/60/16 is larger then a 245/50/16 cause you wouldnt think it was too much more.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

Thats the tire size calculator I use...

215/60/16's are about .6" taller than 245/50/16's and skinner by 1.2"

225/60/16's are about 1" taller than 245/50/16's and skinner by about .6" as well

Even the 245/50/16's still rub. I dont think it has to do with the height more so the width in my case. Measure it up and do the math. But 1 inch difference seems so minor but in my case it was like night and day with the different tires.
