Knight Rider idea !

I loved Knight rider and I ever since I got my car I wanted to turn it into KITT.

However, I was contemplating last few months and I came to a conclusion to make it look like knight rider on the outside but with a twist.
A very good friend of mine is going to make the nose for me (great sculptor and fiberglass maker) and He's going to make the dash for me as well.
Now, I plan to make it a RED (you heard, or read, right) Knight Rider car. Red Knight

Also, the inside dash is going to use all the cyberdyne (sumtin like that) digital guages. THey are all going to be red inside. The interior will have red and black allover with Knight symbols on the door panels and the dash.

I thought I'd be a bit different and put a spin on the same old, but still keeping with the Knight rider spirit.

What do you guys think??

P.S.
Keep in mind I love Knight Rider a lot, so try not to flame me too much.

Thanks.

Allright, it looks like you are not impressed. How about I post the picture of the car with the hood I would like to use.
My red pro/am
(This is the car I own right now)

I plan on keeping the same hood and utill I get the nose I will install the scanner where Knight had it in the pilot episode!
U can see a cut out right in the upper middle of the bumper.

I might paint it black, however I did see another red knight and it looked awsome.

What are you guys's suggestions??
Like the hood?
What about using cyberdyne guages???
A computer onboard with a talking program ?
Outside speakers so peope can hear the Knight theme when am coming

I dont like the idea, but thats just my opinion. I plan on making my fierbird look like kitt on the outside, but leave the inside alone, but I just dont see how red would look better than black with the scanner light.

I seen a pic somewhere of a red knight rider, also a white. Its a good idea, but you can order a nose, and last time I checked the front bar scanner can be order from JC Whitney.

I personaly dont like JCW scanner. If your willing to spend $300, I can direct you to the best scanner on the market. It has 8 modes, controled from inside the car, and comes with a remote which you can turn on the scanner up to 120 feet away. If you want a link, I can get it to you.

By the way my front bumper is black! And I just saw some pics for the pilot episode where they had the stock nose and a scanner put in it. I already have the hole made in the nose (I tried making a grille ) And the scanner would fit perfectly in it.

Now, I am seriously thinking of getting it painted black, but retaining the same hood. For now it will be red.

Also, send me the link for the scanner. The JCW scanner will work for now, but I will get a better one later.

I will be making the dash like the knight riders, but it will have cyberdyne guages. The interior is going all red and black with knight symbols and stuff.
I already have a upper console with whole bunch of switches for things (NOS for turbo boost )

I just want to ride around in a knight rider. Belive me, you dont know how much I wanna do this.

Thanks for your responses.

Thats actaully a KARR. KITT had a red scanner and KARR had the amber scanner. But the red car will look good with the amber scanner.

I say go for it. I think it will look good. Hey it is your car. Don't let the stock nazzis talk you out of it. I do agree your car looks good like it is, but I say do what you wish to do to your car. Now with that being said I think purple would be better, just my opinion.

Actaully, in the first season, he wasnt two tone, whats YOUR point.

I was simply saying that amber would look better on the red car

My point is, it's retarded arguing such simple crap that has no bearing on this thread. Which you seem to be doing a lot of. FYI, karr was only black for his first apperance.

I'd like to see more shots of a red kitt-esque trans am. Do it and take pictures.

I honestly don't know why you would want to do that to your car and yourself, for that matter. Every since I painted the GTA black all I've heard is nice paint job; it looks like "KNIGHT RIDER!!!" I hate that car and Hasselhoff, it makes me want to change to color of my car so bad. I think the next person that calls my car Knight Rider or says "does your car talk?" I'm going to have to hit them.

Hey, but to each his own. If you want to take that burden go for it. It's your car.

I love you guys.

I woke up at 6 am and watched knight up to 2pm. It was great.
Anyway, I agree with you guys. If you dont like knight dont do it. But ever since I was a kid I wanted it bad and now that I can do it I will.
I will paint it black in a month or two, but for now its going to look kinda like in the pilot episode where he had a stock bumper with a scanner.
I wll be getting the scanner soon as well.
Also, I will get some pictures as I go to show you my progress.
It would be cool to be the only knight rider in my coloradof-body club.

Thanks about your input.
Keep em coming.

P.S. Love the music.

I think you should get a more common car to work on and restore the Pro-Am. I never see Pro-Ams around.

K.A.R.R or Knight Automated Roving Robot, only had TWO apperences. the first was in the episode entitled "Trust Doesn't Rust" in the first season. the second in an episod titled "KITT vs KARR" and it is in the third or fourth season (i only own the first two on DVD. and in the first one KARR had a red scanner. the only differences in the cars were the part that moved when they talked, witch was asolid box on KITT and the three line equalizer bars on KARR. KITT adopted the equalizer looking one in season two.

i am also planning a knight rider conversion (exterior only) i have so far the wheels (84 TA with bowling ball hubcaps. ULTRA RARE) and the power bulge hood. niether of wich are installed yet. i will order the nose/scanner combonation when i get her painted (two tone black over grey) and i will have a yellow scanner.

cooltc2004---> can you post that link in this thread or email it to me too? thank you.

I went to hubcap annies in denver, and they had the bowling ball hubcaps. They wanted 15bucks a piece. I am going there tomorow and getting all 4 for 40. It sounds like a good deal.
Also, I will be installing a digital dash in my bird as well ( its the GTA dash). Outside for now will remain stock and I repeat once again the car will look close to what it did in the pilot episode. Here's the pic.

Than later on I am getting the nose.

I dont know whats going on with the music, but it plays twice on my computer, one over the other and it sounds scarry.

Anyways, my mechaninc teacher is re-building my 350 and he is having problems compressing the rings into the stock pistons. The compression rings are in, but the other rings wont buge in. I am not sure what to make of it. I hope my knight gets the 350 .

Also, I am trying to get the best price on the front nose. You guys know anybody who sells it for a decent price.

Hehhe, I bump it all the time. Its awsome.

I am thinking of putting a GTA digital dash in the bird and trying to modify the existing nose (for the time beeing).

Do you guys like the hood on it. Somebody on these boards called it a double power bludge, but it could be a cowl as well. Check it out on my website.

Alright, I will be getting the scanner soon and I'll post the pictures. The GTA dash went out of service and I could not afford it, but its still on the backburner and my mind. I just got my 350 finished and so long for people building it for me. i came into the highschool shop with the Crank assembled and i had to do the rest. So, I technically did it myself, damn (proud) but the deal I had with the shop was different. Anyways, I think I'll be concentrating on my 350 for now and get the scanner going. Get a new cam and lifters along with injectors and the chip.

The knight rider I am making will have some backing up power of his own. Than some laughing gas, to compensate for the turbo button.
Any ideas on the pursuite mode??
It would be soo cool if I could do that, but way out of my price range.

Maybe I'll put a little brake light that once I activate the NOS, it lights up saying "Pursuite mode"

Damn, I kinda wished I got that digital dash, but there will be more for sale soon.

So, you guys think that hood of mine will suite the knight well????

How about the bumper for now???

I am doing a KITT conversion as well but putting my own twist to it just like you. I have the 4th gen spoiler on mine, the Ram Air 2 hood and corvette zr1 rims. I have a yancey front bumper on it with Brenon Fullbrights scanner, the one with the 8 functions and sound. The scanner is awesome.

I also have the steering wheel to go in the car once it gets painted. It is being custom painted black and red and when I get the dash it will be painted black and red as well. I would say do what you want with your car and make it look however you want it. At least that is what I am doing with mine.

My friends are so narrow minded, mine is white and I still get "You should get the bumper and the steering wheel... make it KITT."

Regarding the idea, the red looks kind of odd, and at least not an obvious KITT clone. But it looks like you're going to do the typical black...

What the heck is up with the noses being so expensive, I am trying to fab sumtin' up with my friend like try to get a mold of the stock nose and kinda work with it. However, if I can get a nose for less than 400 bucks, I just might buy it. No need to go through all that work.

You guys are funny, I just want to make a knight rider, its something I wanted to do for a very long time. And every single moment I have free (and my girl is working ) I spend it with my car either waxing it, fixing something, adding something and Knight rider conversion should keep me busy for a while. I am still getting the GTA digital dash, but it will come after I get the 350 situated. I will be getting in some pics tommorow and you guys can tell me what you think.

You might like the stock nose with the scanner in it. And I was thinking of making provisions (cuttin out the bumper) for the flood lights (whatever the heck they are called).

I dont know why people need to tell me what they think of KITT I mean its all good and dandy, but does it really make any progress. No! So, please if you have ideas let us know, but dont just bash, it gets stale really fast.

Now, to the subject. I talked to my fiberglass buddy and I had an idea of working something out of the stock nose. Like making the nose like knight rider out of my stock nose. I am thinking of cutting down the middle of the top bumper right at the edge and bend it down to where I can fit the light under the hood. Than fab up some fiberglass and make it look natural. Like a freak OEM nose they had on few firebirds. I'll get the pic up.
Than once I get the stupid camera I'll get the shots up in here, and you can tell me what you think.

Can we somehow make it so that the theme song DOESN'T play in the background? This is really annoying.
