Beemer style wheels... Opinions?

So I'm thinking about a change! Less chrome/bright on the wheels, seems like bright work is passe, unless you are going with the over blingy 22s!

These 2 are my favorites...

this 2nd design I would paint the center completely black...

So which you guys like better!

IMHO I really don't think that either one is going to flow very well with the lines of the bird. I think they look impor-ish. It might have to do with the thin spokes.

Thicker spokes give a more powerful feeling.

Go with a 5 spoke design, I think 10 spokes doesn't look that great on our cars, looks like a import rim just my opinion..maybe a 5 spoke black rim polished lip..or a 5 spoke billet polished rim just some ideas

2nd; black center.

I'm assuming that the spokes on that wheel are all on the same plane, just painted differently?

Only rim that has a lot of spokes and looks good is the ZO6 rims....

If they got rid of the inner black spokes those wheels would look killer.

Wouldn't they then look exactly like an HRE wheel? 540 or something? I'm too lazy to look...

The rims, both styles are a 5 on a 5... so the outer most 5 sits out more then the inner 5. But all spoked would be painted the same black... what they did is paint the center black and machine the outer most spokes till the black was off

They make the wheels in chrome or machined finish w/o the black. But I think any bright work would be too much on my car. I think black would be the best compliment.

They may... HRE has some nice wheels, but they are too pricey in the sizes I want! Actually they look like a set I got my heart set on, but can't afford... Maya & Assanti have the most gorgeous 3 piece wheels, but at $1200 a wheel, I'm not going to be rolling on them anytime soon!

what size are they? 17x9? I wouldn't go anything less than 9 inches for the rear.

The funny thing... these are BMW styled wheels, I find it funny no one seems to think they would look good!

PIcs of the style on beemers... someone on another thread said they had never seen this on a beemer... so here you go!

Nobody has ever said that just because you have a BMW, that means you have taste. I'd drop the comparison of "but they're BMW wheels!!" Money doesn't give you taste and beemers are the best examples of that. I have seen some of the ugliest creations EVER put on automobiles slapped on 3, 5, 7, and 8 series beemers. However I have also seen the most gorgeous wheels such as fikses, HREs, iforged, boze, etc put on them.

Good luck, I like the solid center color idea. Are you sticking with the black gfx and stuff?

Maybe if you had a BMW people's opinions would be different.

A BMW is a very different vehicle than a thirdgen, so what looks good on one probably won't fit in with the styling of the other. Slap a set of IROC wheels onto an M3 and poll a bmw forum to see how much they like it. You'll probably get the same result.

Personally, I would look for a simpler wheel. A simple 5 spoke from Boze, Ultra, Boyd, etc would be my choice. Your car is already excessively accessorized, so toning it down a little bit with some simpler wheels would probably work wonders for it's overall appearance.

Yes I'm stick with the black gfx... the black wheels tying in with the black gfx was the main idea! I thought it would round out the car nicely... update the look!

See I remember a thread with pics from a while back... the Swede had gotten his hands on a set of BMW wheels very similar to the 2nd set I posted. They were 18s I think and silver. People raved about them! I just remember how striking they were on the car... I thought wow, now that would be cool look to go with when the time comes! So the time is here and I thought OK modernize the look by making them black!

the boyds like CH has, the HP racing Evos, or the BMW rims that look just like thoes two, all kickass...

but im really not a fan of thoes straight spoke wheels you posted.... however, if i HAD to chose one of thoes, id pick the 2 tone second one, and since its for YOUR car, it would be somewhat you to paint the center a metallic red... something like a translucent kandy over the silver would do... either paint or powdercoat.

but you've never listened to my opinion before anyway.

Redraif, I would go with the first design. Black rims with a polished lip defintely a good choice for your car.

...BTW Are you going to NOPI Nats this year?

Heck yeah... hopefully with those wheels on there! You?

So why are you not going by your old login anymore? You have your suspension ironed out yet? I wanted to see you car lowered with the 20s! Hope your can make it. I think you will be impressed with what I'm doing wheel wise!

Some silver 5 spoke... I think there is too much bright with silver wheels! And 5 spoke looks blah on this car!

OH please do the photoshopped ones in black, they really make your car alot more exciting and draw less attention to other things on the car some people still taking getting used to (don't hurt me.)

Those CCWs lace wheels look a million times better than the fancy "BMW wheels" you've picked out. Plus CCWs have a nice rep.

Problem was the sizing and $ aspect. I was working on a sponcership deal... alot of it riding on this rides episode, but the wheel manufactures are being asses about the wheels not being made specifically for my application, there fore they did want to do a sponcership. So that leaves me paying the bill. I plan to do alot of tweaking preformance wise to the car too in the next few months and can't take all that $ and throw it at wheels alone, so I found a compromise! see the ccw start at $625 per. And not in height or width I want either... you get into what I want and they are treading on Maya territory... And I rather get the 3 piece mayas for the $.

What I want in the Zennettis should be possible with my discount for close to 1200 for the whole set, not 1200 one rim!

lol, you can complain about CCWs price, but you cant say anything about the height or width.
they make REAL custom wheels... if you wanted a 17.5" rim thats exactly 10.125" wide, they could make it...lol

I did not see that on their site when I was looking, thats all I had to go on to decide. So what if they will customize for me... cut a one off set, sure go ahead... and we will take you first born too! Most of the higher end companies will make what you want for 1200+ a wheel!

What do you mean I can't say anything about size... I have... they don't "in production" make what I want in the sizes I want... Limited application for maximum $... I don't have that kind of cash...

The Zenettis are not quite as wide in the rear, but it will do... I wanted 10.5 minimum... was going to try and throw 11s under there...
