OK, I know the SLP ZR1 style 17"x8" rims aren't realllllly popular for some unknown reason, but I just want to see them on some cars. I think they look great given the right paint/body combo. If you got em', post em'.

the reason people dont buy them usually is if theyre in the market for a nice wheel, they get something wider. they are nice because of the finish, lack of needed adapters, nicer lip, and a pretty good price. if i had that kind of money and was in the market for wheels that would be in my top 3 choices.

Dont get those. I think the wheels that you have are reallly nice. If any wheel would look good on your car it would be the ronal firehawk rims. Use the money u were gona spend on rims to buy some more performance stuff!!!

Yup, exactly the reason that they arent offered in a 17x9 17x10 and a 17x11 everyone will just opt to get 4th gen ZR1s. Im still clueless to why they wouldnt make ZR1s in any size available with third gen offset...

I like the look better than the reg ZR1s because of the lip, but it is too bad they only come in 8" width.

The first thing I noticed back in 93 when I finally got to go look at a 4th gen in person, was the FWD looking wheels. No dish, no lip!

I like the look of some of the later 10 spoke Camaro wheels and a few others, but all of the the firebird wheels look like craaap

the big deal about spacers is the extra money the cost for a no lip wheel. to me at least, the money difference alone is enough.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa guys. I just wantd to see some pics of the wheels on some of the members cars if they have them. I don't want to get them for my car. My rims haven't got 1k miles on them yet. Nope, I just wanted to see some pics. Spacers are ok, especially since they open up the wheel options for us, but they aren't cheap and neither are the wider tires that go on those 17x9,10,11 inch wheels too.

i'll be buying those for my '89 Iroc after it's painted this spring. i would get another 4th gen set, but we're going the cheap route with this car, spent way too much money on my car and dont have hardly anything to spend on this one lol.

i hate the caps that go on them tho...i like the nice flat ones on my wheels, especially now that i have them custom made. also they're an inch and a half wider too

alright, after reading eveyone bash these wheels i will get it back on topic by posting a pic. yes i know there not real wide but for a weekend cruise car 245's are plenty wide for me, and to top it off they were cheap. say what you want but i love them!

USAmuscle how do you like your rims? For some sudden reason ive been thinking about putting new rims on my car in the summer. I was thinking possibly the kind you have... those are the ones offa ebay that are like around $500 right? How is the quality, etc, etc....
I've been throwing around the ideas of chrome irocs, chrome C6's, and firehawks...but i dont think chrome would look good on my car and firehawks are wayyyyy too much money. But Torq thrust styles like you have look nice. PM or post back...

i like those wheels much better than the regular zr1's b/c they are a little different and a little more lip. and no spacers thats a huge plus. but i wouldnt get just the grey finish it doesnt look right id get chrome or the hyperblack.

There are many. But, I think the point is that if youre gunna dump money into wheels anyways, might as well get ti done right the first time.

Plus, I really dont see why people love them so much. Theyre not the type of wheel that would set the look of a car. I'd rather keep my stockers. Or, if you don tmind having a "skinny" wheel, just get a set of IROC's

i'm not trying to be arrogant by any means, just trying to answer your question. i think the reason why so many people love these wheels is b/c it's a "modern classic" 5 spoke design that comes wide enough for any persons liking. 5 spoked wheels are by far the most popular for muscle/pony cars and it just happens that the ZR1's are one of the most refined, and subtle designs out there.

I couldn't disagree more. I think that if done right, they completely "set" the look of the car and don't pull your eyes right to them the first instant you see the vehicle.

I still obviously need a drop of some kind, and the back tires pulled in by about 1", but you get the idea.

Can one of you guys that have those wheels give me the offset for them? Are they all the same, all 4, or are they like stock wheels, offset different front to rear? I was going to shoot SLP an email, but they don't have an email address listed on their site.

Supposedly, they come with an instruction sheet or something that gives those details.

Finally got 2 of them on and wasn't expecting them to look this good. All I hear is the are not wide enough but just look at these photos. They fill the wheel well very good. They also set out further then stock to.

what size tire are you running?

From what i've seen, you can run b/t a 245 and a 275 rear tire, which may be pushing it a bit.

according to the tire guides at our shop 275/40/17 should not be used on a 8 inch rim. 265/40/17 is the max which are stock on the newer C5 vettes so tire variety is ok (unlike some oddball sizes).

I am running the 275-40-17 in the rear and yes that it is pushing it. The tires bulge a bit but doesn't look bad. The fronts are 245-45-17 and look good but I wouldn't want them in the back. These rims do set out further then stock and help the stance very well. I love the look of my car now. It just looks mean.

spacers can be dangerous. makes it much easier to break a wheel stud or worse... trust me, its not extrememly rare that it happens, especially is you drive your car even somewhat hard.. plus they can expensive

Let's be clear here-- there is a big difference between spacers and adapters.

Spacers are just metal plates that fit between the wheel hub and the rim to allow for a desired look or different backspacing. Spacers are usually fine if they are relatively small, and not used in hardcore racing situations. Spacers get more dangerous the bigger that they are.

Adapters, which I have on my car, (see pics above) actually bolt onto the wheel hub using 5 lug nuts. Once torqued down, the wheel is then bolted to the adapter (via studs machined into the adapter) using 5 additional lug nuts.

Adapters (especially the ones made by skulite performance) are extremely safe, and very cost effective when compared to swapping out the entire rear-end of the vehicle. If you're looking to get ZR1 wheels with non-stock backspacing (like mine), you NEED to talk to the folks at skulite performance because they've done this a thousand times. If you're unhappy with the spacing, he'll even take them back for you and machine you a newer set for free.
