i definitly noticed this last summer strut poping on my passenger side. im replacing my front struts, and putting in a eibach lowering kit. this brace will help my car out quite a bit!

Would this be a first good suspension, besides SFC? Or is money better spent in the rear of the car? This one just seems most satisfying because you can see it too.

TIA, Nick.
MARO-MAN, I would personally get the TDS wonderbar before the stb. It's only 50-something bucks, and rumor has it, it does more for your car. Think of it as an under-the car STB. I have one, and will be installing it as soon as my BMR STB arrives.

I think you just need to drill a few holes and install a few bolts.

I dont know about about the firewall lip.

Like I said, I'd get a TDS wonderbar before an STB.

How did you get that 2pt. brace over the HSR? Did you have to space it up? If installed 'normally' the brace hitting the hood wouldn't be an HSR problem unless it hits the HSR as well. This has been discussed many times and the ultimate answer always came back nothing will fit. If it will fit thats sweet because I desperatly want one back! My HSR pretty much hits my hood as it sits now.

As far as STB's go I had a Kenny Brown 3 pt. and loved it. 3 pts. are better than two and both the Kenny Brown and BMR are awesome and look great. The Edelbrock piece is nice too and if I had a carb or TBI car I'd get it.

The wonderbar is a must for these cars.

I wonder if a Weiand 144 Low Profile blower wit sit under one of Edelbrock STB's? I've looked at pics of both and it looks close from what I've seen, although probably an inch or two in the way...

Before i went back to the stock aluminum intake I had a ZZ4 intake. Its about as tall as the edelbrock unit for these carbed models.Anyway the edelbrock STB would fit but not the 2 bars for the 3 point set-up.I would think the weiand blower would present the same dilemma(if not worse). Also if you dont have the fiberglass hood the strut may contact the hood!I had to adjust my STB to its highest(almost)setting to clear the Z4 intake & it came close to hitting the hood afterward.

Maybe his motor mounts are a little worn, and the engine has sagged a bit?

Will the TBI version of the edelbrock fit a carb'd car with an aftermarket carb and lifter plates? My friend wants to get one.

Thanks!

The edelbrock brace goes aroung the front of the aircleaner.Instead of over it.Depending on what air cleaner, carb, spacers your using. Its hard to say itll work with his pplication.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Same goes for SFCs. I can't see spending $200 on $30 worth of tubing, flat steel, and some nuts & bolts. You can build a wonder bar yourself too.

I like the KB one. No flexing at the mounting points. More secure. That's how I planned on building mine, just never knew any aftermarket ones had been built that way.

Build a wonder bar first. You will notice those immediately, whereas the STB is something you you will only sorta notice, in HARD corners.

I don't see it in their site, so they must not have sold too many. Is it welded in or a bolt on?

Here is a MAC performace products STB chrome. The bolt holes on mine didn't fit so I had to drill them out. Other than that it's not expensive(90) and it tightened up the front noticeably. It bolts on to the factory strut bolts. I got it from FASTTOYS.NET.

Wow...as a previous poster said, I had no idea what that was...it drives me nuts. Only happens when I turn the wheel to the right to full lock though, either going into or backing out of a parking space. I've got a TDS wonderbar and it didn't do a thing for it. How serious of a problem is this?

Which one of these would fit a carbed 305 (84 T/A with stock carbed 305) the best? I really like the look of the edelbrock but what's the difference between the ones that are hinged and the ones that bolt right to the strut tower?

Re: Strut Tower Brace

AFAIK, only Edelbrock makes one that will fit the carb'd or TBI'd cars. It it a 3 pt, and has the bends in the cross-bar, to fit in front of the air cleaner.

Hey, would you mind taking a measurement of that for me? I need to know on the driver side how far the bar is from the ground. I'm trying to find out if this will hit the A/C compressor on my V6 or not.

Get a Wonderbar. They make a more noticeable difference than the STB. Not to mention, a LOT cheaper!

I put a wonderbar in and to be honest, the only difference i have noticed is it doesn't roll as much around corners anymore. And it's not that much of a difference in my opinion. It did something though...and for $50.00...I suppose it was worth it. Now to get the strut popping to stop...that's what I need to try and do.

what do you mean? a drop base air cleaner, or the ones that aff offset 1.5" to move the aircleaner to the center of the car? Either way, yes. I had the offset cleaner for years with no issues with the edelbrock STB for carb/tbi cars

Re: Strut Tower Brace

Did anybody ever come out with a proper fitting brace to fit the HSR?

This is Offset Drop Base Plate:

This is Offset Flat Base Plate:

Both offset bases moves the aircleaner to the front of the engine to avoid contact with HEI distribuitor. But wich one fit better, drop or flat?

Thanks...!

Re: Strut Tower Brace

I'm using a drop base with no issues. Check my vbGarage (shedlike icon next to my online status on the left) for a pic.

Re: Strut Tower Brace

There's my BMR brace. Honestly, I can't tell any difference. I guess I can say that my steering is a little tighter. Got mine from Summit for about $110.

EDIT: Can anybody see my picture? I posted it from my phone and it's just a red x on my work computer and doesn't even show up on the phone. lol

Re: Strut Tower Brace

I have an eldebrock STB just like the one in above pics by member "Cadillac". It came with the IROC I bought which was originally a TBI but I installed a 350 TPI and it hits the throttle body. Anyone ever modify a TBI brace to fit TPI? I was thinking about cutting out a 12" section of the brace in the middle and replace with 12" of 1/2"x2" flat plate flush with the top of the tube. I don't know how much wiggle room there is on clearance.

Is there a TPI version of that particular Eldebrock brace that anyone knows of? If so does anybody have pics they could post?

I've been needing one of these to center my air breather into my good mark cowl hood.
