Looks sweet! I was just about to e-mail you and ask you for some pics of that Ram Air II hood isntalled. I didn't see them on your website. I was wanting to put that hood on my 1989 Camaro, and wondered what it looked like installed. Looks real sweet, I may just buy that hood now.

That looks pretty cool. It caught me off gaurd b/c it looks so much like a 4th gen but then holds the 3rd gen stance and side structure. Do you know how much one of those 4th gen spoilers that are the high raised ones like that one cost? I would love to put one of those on my Firebird.

Sorry fellas, I put out the word to not sell these spoilers to anyone that owns a third gen... Gotta keep it unique ya know! Just kidding! Start at your local junkyards because I think someone told me these badboys start at $1200 from GM or some crazy crap like that. Barring that, try American Camaro and Firebird in Oklahoma - that's where I got mine from for $275 + $60 shipping. Be aware that there are some mods that have to be done to get it to work. The middle two pedestals don't touch the deck lid - actually stopping about an inch and a half from the decklid. Expect to spend some time on fiberglass and bondo work! Then you gotta find a brake light for it! I think it's well worth it. If you want to see some pix of the pedestal work just let me know.

Steve

Edit: Did y'all notice I cut off the antenna on the fender and frenched a power antenna into the pillar behind the passenger door?? (Kind of hard to see in the pix)

I think the hood and spoiler look killer. The offset of the wheels is still taking some getting used to, and I'm not sure how much I like the nose...but hey. Overall it looks pretty damned good.

I'm going to take in the rear adapters and have them shave off about 1/4" - hopefully that will pull them in enough to avoid that "high-school kid with jacked up Camaro" look...
I can't get more than 1/4" because of the studs.

Man, I didn't know if I'd like the hood, but I do now. It doesn't look good on those 91-92 F-Birds, but on the earlier models it looks so much better!!!! I love the wing, too! I think I'll just buy mine from rareautodesign and not have to screw with it all, though. I dunno, would that work for a convertible you think?
Thanks,
Douglas

i think it looks sweet, not to sure about the round lights at bottom of the front end,and the rims, but other then that ,its a carbon copy of what im trying to get my car to look like, been waiting to see a pick of a transam with that hood on it and that style nose, i think that style looks better then the 91 nose combined with the ram air hood, and as said a few post up when i frist saw it , it did look like a 4th gen/3rd gen car, very cool , so what color are you going to paint it ?????, how about something diffrent yellow, oarnge, lime green ,,just kidding , im sure whatever color you decide the car will look sweet !!!!!!

Car looks great! Can't wait to see everything painted and the finished product. About the spoiler, there is a company, quiet and private right now, that made a 4th gen. spoiler that fits the 3rd gen. I was on the site a while ago, but I can't remember the address. The pic they had was one with a silver GTA. Looks pretty cool.

Hey thanks alot fellas! The car is getting paint this weekend and it's going to be Metallic Pearl White. Once that base is shot I'm going to have some subtle flames done in two coats of Pearl (and pearl only) so that it only shows up as ghost flames. I'm not covering up the entire front end in flames, just a couple of subtle ones off the front and fenders, off of the "nostrils" of the hood, and maybe some little ones off of the vents on the side... With the clear side markers I think it'll make for a very smooth look.

Hey remember, we are thirdgens, don't want to change our entire car into a 4thgen model. I bought a ASCD ram air hood. I like yours though too.

Man... The only car that should come in Lime Green is a HemiCuda! I've actually considered that new metallic burnt orange as an option; but not the yellow - I like it in yellow... Hmmm... The main reason I'm not going for the typical reds and blues is because, well... they're typical. The rest of my car is unique enough to demand a unique color, so that's why I was going with the metallic pearl white with ghost flames. Course, I got a call last night with pricing for my flames and the guy wants $1000 to put subtle/light flames on my car... Holy monkey, that's too rich for my blood. My wife would hang my testes from her rear view mirror if I spent that kind of money on top of the cost to paint it metallic pearl white. So, I don't know if that's gonna happen. We'll see.

A guy near me has a Foxbody mustang that he painted pearl white with pearl flames. Basically exactly what you're planning on. It is PHENOMINAL. And this comes from somebody that hates flames. I just really love ghost flames, and his were very well done. Absolutely stunning appearance.

Man, I dont know what it is about that combo, but it looks GREAT. I think it might look even beeter with a big cowl, like a 4", and the fourth gen wing. It really kind of rounds out that "hey my cars about to take flight" look. hell of a job on that thing man, haha, soon you'll get that satisfying feeling of seeing the mustang guys about breaking their necks as you go by.

Please tell. I promise I dont live near you, so we wont be replicas

>>hell of a job on that thing man, haha, soon you'll get that satisfying feeling of seeing the mustang guys about breaking their necks as you go by

That's sort of the problem right now, I've still got the damn 305 TBI in there right now, and while it aint the slowest thing on the planet - it won't beat the Stangs. Everyone and their mother wants to race, but they're gonna have to wait until the 383 gets in there...

>>dunno about the hood, but i love the rear spoiler.... any shots from the rear? so that i can see how those pedistals went? Id like to get a new spoiler for my rear... Now, that is the high whale tail one?

The spoiler is off of a '99 WS-6 TA and took some work to get on there...

All of that stuff that actually attaches the spoiler to the decklid on the middle two pedestals is actually fiberglass and bondo. Those ended about one and a half inch above the deck so I had to fill it in.

I wish the damn antenna I put in there sounded better - it doesn't "recept" for crap. I may have to look at re-wiring it to make it sound better or something.

Oh that sucks that your antenna doesn't have good reception. It is in a killer spot, and it doesn't detract from the look of the car like regular antennas do. Its probabally just a wire that needs replacing or something, its gotta be easy.

I am extremely bored right now, I think I will make some of those new pics of your car white also lol

I have some pix and editorial waiting to go together on a page and I'll get it up soon. Along with the dual TBI rig, my twin turbo setup, stereo crap... Not enough hours in the day. At least not enough to actually work on the car and do a website showing the work!

Im sorry! Im sorry! But im gonna bust on your 4th gen spoiler and have it done on my formula. I love that thing. I have an 88', so you all know what happens to that year spoiler if you even sneeze on it. And if the sun shines hot enough..forget it, it starts cracking and falling apart. I'll have my body shop guys take care of the bondo and fiberglass stuff...

Dude, damn you! Thats exactly what I am planning on doing. Im planning on keeping the stock color scheme, and wheels (maybe some 17x9 Firehawks later on) and putting the RAII hood and the 4th gen Spoiler on this summer. Heres what my car looks like now, Any Photshop guys wanna tackle putting the hood on this?

Well, to make this thread even longer I'll add some more...

This went in about a week ago...

...and here she is sitting pretty. I'm still working a couple of things. I just got my Griffin radiator, and made a formed shroud for it out of black Kydex (plastic.) I have most of the hosing worked out, I just need more stainless braiding for it. I want to put it all on before adding fluids so that I don't make a helluva mess later. I need to get my brackets welded on to my cat, and Y-pipe. I need to get my friggin MAC torque arm/driveshaft loop in there - that thing has become my "Moriarty," if you know what I mean. I have to install my braided rear brake lines. My distributor should be on the way - I had to settle for a used stock one until the money tree blooms again.

Hmmm... other than that, everything is cherry.

I need to update my web page like it's no ones' bizness!! I am way behind and have about 80 pictures to post... not enough hours in my day...

Ahhh sheet, it looks like the car got squashed! Maybe not that low... I like your car, dude, but I am not wild about the wheels because they stick out. Just my opinion, though. But, OMG, thats the most bad-a$$ looking engine i have ever seen!

Yeah Sheet, that's a tad too low, besides I like to be able to turn occasionally... ...and I prefer my spoiler!

Ward, I'm trying to work on those wheels sticking out too far. I have to find someone who has the cajones to put my spacers on a milling type of machine in order to shave them down about 1/2". That should tuck them nicely inside the wells. Thanks for the comps on the engine - it's taken me $5000'ish and six months to get it that way. I just hope she runs as good as she looks. Then I'll be following "the way of the Jester" and working the twin turbo deal. That had better cure my need for ugly speed.

As usual Steve, it looks awesome. not the altered pic but your engine!

note on the adapters, I went to a machine shop to have them shave off some of my adapters as well. My wheels stuck out way too much in the front. I had him take off 3/8".
that was the about the max. One side has a acorn type fitting for the lug nuts and the other side has the press fittings for the lugs. It only cost me 40 bucks and he had it done in a hour. Cant wait to see it painted

Hey nosaint - Thanks, as long as I had it out I might as well spend a buttload of time detailing it too. mmmmm... some kind of tense problem there but I can't put my finger on it... Kevin (Stella's husband) is going to give my adapters a shot the next time he's in town so hopefully that'll work out - I'll get as much taken off the back as I can and still avoid the press in lugs.

jm91rs - Get in line! Just kidding, this kind of stuff is easy to do (it's just big time time consuming) as long as your engine is out. I wouldn't even attempt anything half as silly with the engine in the car.

85T\A - You know the drill, good things come to those who wait...! I've been waiting a while now...

Got my Griffin radiator in there too....

Your car looks great. My favorite parts are the spoiler and the two circle lights on the front end. Killer ride. The only part of your car that I absolutely HATE is the rims. I think you kill the looks of your car with them. If you had different rims....you would have the meanest looking car. Those rims just do not work with your car. They look out of place to me. I think you should either go with the ZR-1 or the Cobra-R rims. Other than the rims, killer car. I wish it was mine.

I agree, I do not like those rims at all. They look out of place. But other than that, thats an awesome car. I'd say its probably the best looking third gen bird I've seen.

Uhhhh... I'm not getting it fellas... You do or you don't like my rims?? Seriously, I appreciate and respect your opinions, but hopefully you'll do the same with mine - and I like them. Glad you mostly like the look though. LOL Wait till she's got a coat or two of Pearl White paint with ghost flames... Oh my...

Course, maybe I'd consider switching rims if y'all sent me a check for some different ones... Just an idea.

Love the engine, love the hood and the spoiler, but not the wheels. Torque Thrust II's are the way to go. I just got my 86 ta back from the paint boothe. Painted it Hugger Orange and put Torque Thrust II's on it. Telling you now that it is killer. Maybe you could help me out with a spoiler, i am looking for a rubber wrap around flat black spoiler like on the 86 trans ams. Mine is all chipped and cracked. Only thing that doesn't look go with new paint.

Quick Reply: Okay - Pix of Ram Air II hood and fourth gen spoiler on '88 TA inside...
