I have an 87 IROC...It says I need bulb #885 for my foglights, but I cant find a Silverstar 885 anywhere...will any Silverstar 88x bulb work in my fog lights? Need help and fast! gotta get these bulbs by next week!
I have silverstat sealed beam headlights and need the corresponding fog bulbs to match!
to convert your fogs to 9004, easy to get silverstar 9004's
BTW i love the silverstars, i got to spair sets for my car at $5 per sealed beam, they were 75% off because it was the prior style packaging and not the new silverstar pack beats the $20 X's 4 i spent when i first got them
i really dont want to do a big conversion... se, my ride is at my mechanics cause im getting exhaust work done and i got some diamond clear parking lights for xmas im finally installing..with silverstar bulbs...already have silverstar headlights...so i want the fogs to match and not be nasty yellow-ish like they are now..
can anyone tell me if any of the 880-893 line of silverstar bulbs will work? i know my camaro calles for 885... but the only 885 that exists is a stock replacement from sylvania.. it is NOT a silverstar, though I have seem silverstar fog bulbs for 880, 893, and various others. so can anyone tell me if one of these will work without any modding?
It doesn't look like Sylvania makes a silverstar version of the 885. The 893 bulbs would work, but they are only 37 watts. The 885 is 50 watts. Kinda defeats the purpose of spending the extra money for silverstars.
i want an exact match..i KNOW this is possible... and SOME MEMEBERS here must have silverstar fogs on their camaro..
please speak up! need to get this rectified this week!
i got silver stars headlights and off brand bulbs in my fogs, cant tell a diff, both have that brite whitishblue glow......beggars can't be choosy
(and no im not being a smart a by saying beggars can't be choosy)
if i were getting a off brand i would go with a 6000k would prob match it as best as it can, i wouldnt trust a 4000k off brand to be the same color as a silver star
Print out the list and find them at your nearest retailer.
Certain bulbs are available for sale at the SYLVANIA Online Store. New bulbs will be online for purchase in the coming weeks.

stupid links not working right.......fact of the matter is there is NO silverstar direct replacement for a camaros fog light
i understand there is no DIRECT FIT fog bulb for our camaro fog lights...i know the reg bulb part # is 885...
what im TRYING TO FIND OUT FROM ANYONE HERE...is what silverstar fog bulb CAN I USE...to match my headlights...they do make fog bulbs, i just thought that since alot of poeple here are more knowledgable than me, they could give me apart # of a silverstar fog bulb, that WILL FIT in the camaro fog light housing without any issues...
ive been aware the whole time there is no silverstar 885 bulb... thats never what my post was about...simply what CAN BE USED in its place that is an actual silverstar bulb and not a knock off brand..
893ST, like said before, 37.5 watts aint much lower than 50, and it will have the same color temp as your headlights 4000k
other option is a even dimmer 880ST at 27 watts
or the conversion i gave you a link to
or an off brand 50 watt 6000k bulb (6000k and not 4000k because IMO a silverstar looks about the same as a 6000k on ebay)
here is a link to EVERY silver star bulb that the make, unless you can see someting that everyone on here that is tring to help you out cant see than i dont know what to tell you
thanx to everyone...and 89rs...appreciate all the info and specs...went with the 893ST fog bulbs..bought em today...ill post pics once their installed!
i wish someone would have told me that, i already shipped the bulbs to my mechanic (hes far away), now you guys tlel me i need this harness? is it the only way it will fit or what?
i wish you guys gave me the whole story, i was under the impression this way plug and play.
All the 8xx bulbs fit in the same housing, the only difference in them is the plug on the back.
You know, the stock plug (pigtail) may just work. I think your OK. If not, this would be really simple, and your mechanic should be able to hook them up.

so the 893st's will not fit without this harness?
You need to do some research on your own. A single Google or Yahoo search returned the following:
According to this, the base for both 885 and 893 bulbs are the same. If you compare the drawings of both bulbs, it looks like they'll also fit the same housing. I think you're good to go.
