I disagree, I don't have pics of mine right now, but its running a dark grey, flat black and I think it looks great riding on my C5 wagon wheels. I am going to go for the matte black look though with some type of comparable wheel package.
it was a third of the way down but anyways here is the picture i was talking about
and by the way i like flat black on every thing but a third gen im not trying to hate or any thing and Stephen i love your wheels those are awsome.

Thanks, but the pic I posted isn't my car.
I have 17" Snypers, with the centers powder coated flat black like that though.
This pic is from the day I swapped from the stock crosslaces to the Snypers.
The satin black gives the car a very aggressive look.

TT2...I THINK, but.....The black on them is courtesy of the Photoshop work I did, including deleting the antenna, getting rid of imperfections I saw, fence posts behind the car sticking up, messing up the profile.
[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]It looks good if done correct. The paint just doesn't last as long as a base clear job.

True, having a matte car is kinda a DIY/budget/traditional paint option, but to each his own. I think it all comes back to what works, its all a perfect combination of rim/paint color/and ride height (stance).
And for all those guys who don't have that "keep it on the track" mentality, a matte finish is truly stealthy. For a added touch it would be cool to go total old school and put a on/off switch for the tail lights when things get hot.
I think the flat black looks pretty good especially if you have black wheels. If you wanna do flat black like the others said dont just primer it. You wont be able to clean anything off it easily and you will get rust and bubbling issues very soon. There are alot of companies producing basecoat that mimics the hot rod flat black look now. Try searching on google and I believe House of Kolor is making it now and they are one of the best paint companies around.
Stephen you fouled me with the photoshop...they did look like TT2's but i had never seen them with that exact black in the inside...i really like those...are those 18's?

FOOLed/Tricked?
If so, that means I did it good.
I just adjusted the black, until I got close to my powder coated black Snypers & no "shine" on them.
no matter how well the job is done its not going to look like anything but a half done paint job.
im sure it will get looks - so does a 2 headed snake.
but its your car - enjoy - what looks good is based on what looks good to you - no one else matters.
haha yes i meant fooled...i failed English 105 in college, can you believe that crap? lol...Yes you did an amazing job on it...and ya i know tirerack has them...ive looked at them mmm idk about 100 times lol...i want 18's tho...im hoping the 18's TT2's with a one inch drop and a small tire would work...cause that would look perfect IMO

Those are 20" Mustang "Bullit" wheels IIRC from the original thread I saw this car in. The owner of the car is a member here.
.....I'll say it again....Flat/satin black cars are like redheads...they're either drop dead gorgeous or butt ugly. There is NO in between or happy medium.

Thats funny.. rockin stang wheels.
I'd agree on satin black cars. Its either an epic win, or an epic FAIL
flat black looks dope. just makes the car look really mean and compliments the stance. im doing this to mine in the next couple of weeks. ill make sure to post pictures.
I just got out of class if you havent seen by the name I'm a marine and right now im in school so i have class from like 7 in the morning till like 5 or 530 but formation in the morning is at 545 when we dont run and 445 when we do run but nvm all that i think i really like the satin black look cause like you guys said its easier to clean and it wont bubble or rust as bad as flat black i think im going to go look around at different paint shops for a good painter i plan on doing all my prep work
i love that look of a car thats flat black but it has gloss black strips so sexy i still have yet to paint my car i decided to work on the motor and everything before i go with paint im going to build a 350 for it
The best flat black I have ever seen was a hot rod I saw at the drag strip. The guy told me it was an 'epoxy' flat black. The epoxy set a hardness to the paint which avoid most of the issues the others on this thread are addressing.
In my opinion....dont flat it.
you ca do a base/clear cost job if your worried about that. they make a flatining agent to use in the paints these days.
house of kolor make nice stuff..
FLATTENING AGENT (FAO1)
FA01 is designed to reduce the gloss of our acrylic lacquer and polyurethane enamel topcoats and clears. FA01 will not effect adhesion or hardness. You can vary the amount of gloss reduction (from 10% to 99%) depending on the amount of FLATTENING AGENT used. FA01 is great for undercarriages, frames and engine parts where high gloss is not desired, but a tough, durable finish is.

Yea, the sealer is faded now. It has been a while. Think i am going to bit the bullet and paint it. Silver bottom(gun metal) and gloss black metallic top.
