Paint Opinion

So I'm looking to paint my camaro. I already have a white hood, with a black body. I was thinking about painting the whole thing black (minus decals) but my friend mentioned getting white racing stripes.
Any Ideas?

Re: Paint Opinion

I really love black or white for camaros. I would have liked a white car but found a black one Black looks really sinister on these cars. Flip a coin. There are some threads on here where people post pictures of their black and white cars so you can see what you like best. I'm not a huge fan of stripes since most of the time they look tacky. I think the 92 heritage striping looks good.

Re: Paint Opinion

The Heritage striping is what I had in mind. But I also agree that sometimes stripes look just plain tacky. That blue one is real nice, but my baby is gonna stay black thats for sure.

I guess my problem is do I want it to look STOCK or CUSTOM?
Contemplation.

Here are some pictures of my camaro how their sitting.
She needs lots of work I know

I don't want to steer you away from stripes. I think that most people on here that have them, made striped look good. I have seen people do hockey stick stripes, pinstriping and a strip all around car just above ground effects. Tan or gold accented gfx looks nice too. Is your front drive fender bent in some?

This guy has blue striping above gfx and it looks awesome.

Couple pages of nothing but black camaros

Thread with lots of black and red camaros.

Re: Paint Opinion

Yeah.
Somebody hit me while I was at work put a big ol' dent in her.
I plan on getting a new fender on ebay when I can afford it since they have the cheapest ones so far.

I liked the blue stripes, but I might make them white.
I think I might just shy away from doing the hoodstripes. I want her to look original.
But that is just me.

Do you know where I can find a cheap IROC detailing kit?
The cheapest I found was 100$

You can not beat a bright red camaro with painted black hood louvers. I love that look.

Re: Paint Opinion

Just keep in mind that the darker the color is, the straighter the body needs to be. Nothing looks worse than a black car that isn't perfectly straight.

Re: Paint Opinion

To Jim:
Thats true.
The rest of my body is straight except that one fender, which I plan to replace.

To Stangski, do you have any pictures of those paint jobs? I've seen a few, but some looked really cheap.

Re: Paint Opinion

I'll look real hard to find some. There was an 89' Iroc for sale in Edmonton once, it was a real nice bright red w/ black hood louvers (plastic) and 2 gray racing stripes down the middle. It was gorgeous!

Re: Paint Opinion

Indeed she is a beauty. I really appreciate all the advice.
But I had some crap come up (thats life for ya) so her paint will have to wait.

But I've never had to have a car painted. So is there anything I really need to look out for in a body shop?

Re: Paint Opinion

Play around on here - you'll find just about every color and stripe combination you can think of! Black is sexy - no doubt about it! But be prepared to wipe it down every time you stop - it's next to impossible to keep clean... Personally I love the bright red for obvious reasons...

It all comes down to what you want - if you have Photo Shop you can play around with colors and stripes and see what really excites you...
