Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

Well I found some really nice clear taillights for thirdgens on this website called Klearz. Im not too sure of the exact web address though. Do a search for Klearz and ask for Jason if you are interested. He is awesome.

They look nothing like the Altezza euro crap that you would picture if you heard the term "clear taillights" for our camaros. They look really nice!

I ordered a set and am going to install them right around the time I paint my car.

I am also going with a set of LED rear brake lights from www.spaghettiengineering.com They will go perfectly with the clear taillights!

I just want to see if anyone else has seen or considered this option and what people think. Opinions are welcome, just keep it friendly.

Here are some pics of cars I found with this set up. My car will be black and silver with all clear lights all the way around.

Take a look and let me know what you think!

Enjoy...

Also, If you have any more pics of setups like this already installed, please post them so I can have a better look. These pics here are not too high resolution. Thanks.

Ya I agree. It looks really good on the black car and the white car!

But I'm not feeling it on that red Camaro. It would have looked better with an all red taillight, you know, no amber turn signals.

Re: Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

I'd like to see a set up close to see what the quality is like. If it's good enough, I'd be interested in buying a set and painting the red & orange back onto the lense for a stock appearance. Nobody is repopping stock tail lights, and nice ones are getting awful hard to find.

I wonder if he has the ability to make them with the red & orange plastics?

The white one and the black one look like photoshops? Maybe its just me, I know the red one is real cause I seen his thread about them on here.

Also that black one is Sickness91Z28's car and I know he dosent have them.

If those are the ones that cost a crap load then you have to put them together, ive seen one set look good then the next set looked really bad. So im guessing if your good at putting them together they could look good.

Re: Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

I think they would look good on my maui blue 86, even if I repainted it the original gray. I don't like them on the red one. Too bad third gen tails werent all red no amber turns. I think that would look better. Or you could even use red tinted clearcoat on them.

Will do!

Problem with tinted is always getting pulled over or lack of visibility. Thats why I am not going with the black covers over the taillights. But the clear will look good because the rest of the car is going to have all clear lights, sigals and side markers. The red LED kit will also make sure my brakes and turn signals are very visible. Looks and functionality, what more could you ask for???

Ya he makes them in red, tinted red, smoke, and clear. He does a great job of polishing them too! And by the way, if you dont like those and want a pretty clean set or two of stock taillights, PM me and I can get you mine.

They dont cost too much, but yes you do have to put them together. I also thought the black and white ones were photoshopped but wasnt sure. Either way, I like the way it looks.

Re: Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

The "red" car is actually orange. The tailights did come in sections to be assembled on your tailiight housings. It took time and patience to get it to look right. They were also expensive. I used black pin stripe tape to trim it up and it turned out good. I get alot of comments both good and bad. You would have to see them upclose and in person to really judge them. Some pictures dont do them justice.

Re: Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

If they were smoked out a bit it would looks alot better. Its too bright and stands out on the car instead of blending in. I would get them just to paint it all red to get rid of the amber color on stock ones...

Hmmm... you would figure they have the molds... maybe ita a case of call or email and they can make you a set still.

Figure he might would have had a much better product if he sold them assembled. Even if it was a core trade type of deal. Heack I think there are eough junk yard cars with good parts but bad lenses.

I always thought clear light looked best on the white, silver, grey, light blues and black cars. Though I think on the darker grey a light smoke would look nicer and on the black a bit heavier smoke. I go back and forth on red cars. If you follow the theme thoughout the car it can look nice with the white...
Though I think if you have any black trimming, like stripes or wheels, you need to go with dark smoke for that meaner look.

I know what you mean about pics... some can mask the world & others make the good look bad. I think your car with the clear looks good... you ahve the side markers & chrome wheels... I think it all ties together

They'll do em in any color you want, not just clear.

They're a lot of work, and I thought they were warped for a long time. I spent some time with a hair dryer straightening them out, and then I realized more recently that the stock lenses have the exact same problem. They are clearly not straight all the way across from all angles, which is what I was trying to get them to do. But either way, it took me an afternoon to do and some pinstriping tape. I think they turned out okay and they're neat, but Im not completely happy with my install job, if you look closely in person you can tell where I had some trouble. I also wish I'd gone with a clear reverse light panel though, it would have broken up the smoked red all the way across a little bit.

Yes it was a chop....was messing around with the same picture in black and white and copied and pasted them on the color to see what it looked like. Curious where that picture came from...must have been years and years ago lol.

Re: Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

Well I got my complete set and threw them on to see what it looks like. I personally think it looks awesome! Especially on a black car! I am going to paint the grid area black however because i feel it looks like too much of a big white spot. The black in the grids should subtle it out very nicely. Either way, it looks great. My car is mostly black with some silver, all the lights and lenses up front are clear so why not do the same in the rear? Check out the pics...

Re: Clear taillights for 3rd gens!

I would have loved a set 5 years ago. I do like the stock look, but just not my style anymore. I would like to see how the tails look at night though.

Cover up one half with your hand then do the other side, It looks way better with the grids!

I have both of them painted now but havent taken pics with both of them on. I will probably do that later on and throw the pic up here so you can see the finished job. As far as seeing it at night, that will have to wait. I need to order the LED kit from spaghettiengineering.com first and that may take a while!

Looks good, i would lightly tint the lenses. I think they would look better & not so much out their.

ya they sell a smoke set but I like the clear. It matches everything I have up front. None of that is tinted, its all clear.

the black grid really does make a HUGE difference. I need to get a set of the solid red ones for my plans for my tails.

The leds wont go on for quite some time. Thats going to be one of the last finishing touches I do. But do a search on youtube and check em out there, theres plenty of vids showing how they look.
