Well its been a long time but they are finnaly in the "finished" stages. Check em out and tell me what you think. At this point I am really looking for advice on appearance. Functionality is amazing, but Im not so sure i dig how they turned out... let me know.

Bought the H4 conversions off of ebay, they are the "non-street legal" set, blacked out but it didnt really matter. I just got them because they are the cheapest set you can buy.



Baked them and peeled them apart, 350 degrees for about 7 minutes was plenty. Pry carfully and try not to chip or break the glass on the sides, its pretty brittle.



D2S valeo projectors. The D2S HID kit (http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W) from DDM is 30$ + shipping. Whereas the D1S kit (http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-D1SR-35W) jumps to 157.50$ + shipping... go figure..?
I difference in the two is in the shape of the insert section in the back. D2S=Round D1S=Square







Aparently you can get lense glass that is not stepped down therefore producing a brighter, non broken light pattern. But honestly these have worked great for me. Its really unnoticable unless you pay attention. This is the broken light pattern i have.



Cutting the bezels, I used a cutoff wheel on a grinder. Afterward I went over to the bench sander and put a level on top of the bezel and sanded them until they were flat. Its all relevant anyways, after you mount them in the car they are adjustable anyways so just get as close as you can and your good.

After cutting and sanding, time for FiberGlass! Man i hate fiberglass...



Let the fiberglass dry and sand it down to where you feel comfortable with its appearance. Then its time to trace your pattern for your projector cutout. It is fairly important to get the projector level so the cutoff pattern will be straight so get your template all ready and cut it out and make sure you pay attention to it being level. Again, its all relative to what you think is good. you have about a +/- 10 degree play area before you will really start to notice that its not straight and it might bother you.

This is how i made my template.



I used a dremel with a rotating bit to cut the fiberglass. I tried using a mini cutoff wheel but it was horrible. I would suggest getting some king of cutting bit instead.







This is where you will want to be very sensitive to making the projector level. The hole locations will determine how level your projector is.

As you can see, to make room for the screws, i used a mini barrel sander bit on the dremel and cut a circle into the fiberglass on all four sides.



You may place a level across the screws to figure out how straight your setup is.







Time to cut the shrouds to fit! I got mine off ebay. Take your measurements and then ask questions! usually people are good to get back to you quick.

be slow and cut very little at a time. Put the projector in the bezel to test fit the shroud and see how much more you have to cut.



Voila!





Install components.
I went over to the craft store looking for foam to seal the space between the projector and the bezel. Only thing thick enough i found was one of those statium "#1" finger things you put on your hand and wave in the air like a bafoon for your favorite team. Dont throw the template away because you'll need it here also. Again, take your time and do it right the first time.



Installed Lowbeams.



With bulb and connector installed, still clears the battery just fine. (on my Camaro..)



Blinding death! Fog lights are 55W and I only use them when alone on the road, they are much too bright for oncoming traffic. (not to mention they are in non projector bezels)



Projector HID kit is 35W 5K from DDM. Works flawlessly and has a lifetime guarentee.

After a while i got the blacked out fake Projectors off ebay for the brights. Baked them and put in the halos. Not so sure I like them... what do you guys think??

Those are D2s,D1s have a square metal box (igniter).Excellent work Keoman.Lets see a night pic, wanna see how wide/far the light goes.

You'll either get used to the halos or not.I never really liked mine, but thought they would grow on me.Little by little though, i began liking them less & less.

My fog lights are 35W 3k HID's in the stock camaro fog light bezels (which you can seal from a Chevy Astro Van (or GMC equivilent), Bolts right up) No wiring harness needed on the fog lights. Just a custom made adapter. (you could splice them if you really wanted to) IIRC, the bulb is an 885.

So just a story.
Got pulled over the other day for my lights. I had the fog lights off and just driving normal and some a$$hole cop looking for trouble flips around and pulls me over. He comes to the window and proceeds to tell me how the Department of Transportation has declared it illeagal to retrofit HID's in any car and how he is going to give me an exobitant fix-it ticket

To this I promptly reply that I am familiar with the laws about retrofitting HID's in cars and that he might ought to know that the DOT was referring to retrofitting HID's in a NON-HID bezel, which did not apply to me as I had created my own "perfectly suitable for the high intensity dischage of light from nebulous gases" (yeah, i said it)

I may have come across as kindof a ***** but hey, when you're on the right side of the law, who cares right? He gave me the ticket after I tried to show him my projectors and explain things a little... anyways long story short, after getting them looked at by a "Certified Mechanic" and having him sign a bunch of crap the judge finnaly waved the ticket and apologized for the waste of time.
At the end I almost wished i had never done them........ ALMOST... hahaha

I have horrid night vision, especially with focusing after a car passes me (light sensitivity). I have to wonder, how much more sh-tty does ones vision have to be past mine to require such bright lighting (for city driving, non-the-less) ?

In the 8 years I've had my 91 with Sylvania 'cool blues', I've yet to even require fixing my high beam switch.

Any before any sand gets in vaganias, this isn't a stab at the mod or, work done.

I'm really wondering, how bad are you guys vision ?

Pretty damn bad. I understand what your saying though.
Must be the adolecent in me? Everyones gotta grow up sometime, but to grow up you gotta be an illogical immature idiot first. If i had half a brain I would have spent the HOURS AND HOURS spent making and aquiring all this and just mowed lawns and bought the things already made. But since when do I do the smart thing. Mine is horrible... and with the condition of some of the streets around here its nice to see a pothole before its 2 feet in front of you. Im running 6000k hid's on my retro fit so its not too "hey look at me" but I certainly do stand out from the crowd. Now please excuse me while I remove the sand from my fagina.

I'm curious to know what happens to the interface between the fiberglass and the plastic bezels after it goes through a series of hot/cold cycles. I can see this being a problem.

The bezel, contrary to common belief, is actually made of some sort of bondo or resin based substance. The fiberglass sticks rather nicely to it.

So did you reduce the fogs from 55w to 35w? Or did you just post the 35w pic last, despite it being an earlier try that got upgraded to 55w?

Or post the wrong pics with the wrong description? The 35w fog looks like it had a bit wider light in your pics (if the descriptions are correct).

You are correct in your first statment. I swapped my foglight (55W) ballasts and my projector (35W) ballasts. Proj. are 55w and fogs are 35w. Fogs are still too bright for city driving.

The brights bezel (inner) has got a 20$ fake projector unit in it w/ an H4 bulb. If you look close you can see the silver cap on the bulb.

no company makes these for sale, you can only get them with the cheap fake projectors like the first pic shows. the only way is to make them yourself or have someone make them for you.

From the pictures I was able to find on google of the flip light assembly on the Bird, I would have to say either No or it would be extreamly crammed in. I would love to test them and see but the only Bird I have is a 4th gen. My lights are about 4" longer than sealed beam halogens so it'd be a long shot.

How far does the light project with the stock light, 200-300ft? During the day I usually look about an 1/8-1/4 mile ahead of me, sometimes more if the situation allows. At night I can't see that far because my lights don't project that far. Sure there's some people who only look at the ground right in front of them, but that's not the safest way to drive.
