I know, I'm a cheapskate
Well I was bored with the look of my 83 z28 after I got it painted last fall. I didn't have money for the ground effects striped from phoenix graphix for the longest time, and by the time I saved up enough, I found out they didn't have the red ones that my car originally had!
Well, I am in college and funds are tight (and gas isn't getting any cheaper) so I opted instead to make my own ground effects stripes with some TFX 1/2" and 1/4" pinstriping.
Y'all let me know how you think it looks. For $50 (vs ~$200 for a kit in colors that I don't care for) I think it doesn't look half bad.
The one without the stripes is obviously from before, and with is after.

And here's a couple more. I apologize for the poor quality phone pictures. The side view one looks like the stripes behind the door are touching the ground effects, but they're really not, I don't know why the pic looks like that

Not a cheapskate at all. Just doing your own thing & not handing over crazy money for simple parts.

SSG Arvizu:
I got them at stripeman.com in the pinstripe section. I got one roll of 1/2" and one of 1/4" but they come in 150' rolls. I have easily enough to do another car, and if you were planning on doing your car in red, you're welcome to my extra pinstriping, just PM me an address and I'll send it to you.

Re: I know, I'm a cheapskate
Thanks 89. It's fresh looking, only problem is the doors are starting to sag and all the weatherstripping needs replaced. Still shopping for door weatherstrip, from what I hear, it's all junk unless it's GM but I really can't afford GM

Nice DIY stripe job. I am personally not a fan of the pin stripping on our cars, but your colors look good!!! Plus you saved some coin in the process.

Re: I know, I'm a cheapskate
I think it looks really good. I just opted to fork out the $139 at hawks for my decals... My car is getting dropped off in July for paint. I am really excited.
