Hey gang. While I have my motor out I wanna redo some of the engine bay. One thing I was wondering if anyone has a chrome brake booster or something a little better looking in there cars and where did ya get it? Also taking my heat completely out and moving my MSD to that side. I dont drive it in the cold and have not needed it in 2 years so its coming out. Also maybe I will try and do something with the top strut mounts. Anyone have a link to a nice set of those to replace the stock ones? Thanks

What color is your bay ? What color is your engine primarily. I would paint the booster with some high temp black and try to hide that sucker ,no chrome if you can help it. New bottles look great, I just put them in and it really cleaned up the bay. Since you are going to be using MSD parts that are generally red in color you could use that as a theme for your engine also. Red cap, wires, coil and so on. They even make a red 14x3in filter for a open air element.

My engine bay is white and I dunno if there is any way of hiding the brake booster even if it is painted black lol. I think I am going to get a 3 row aluminum radiator and an aftermarket overflow bottle to start. Also gonna move the battery to the rear with an emergency shut off switch. Also filling in some of the little bolt holes on the fender wells before repainting it and re-doing the wiring so its all nice and neat in black loom. Pic of the engine bay Below:

89 350 As far as the radiator top support I got it from summit for 20 bucs. Heres the link http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3920. It isnt a direct fit for the stock holes. I used self tapping screws to mount it, but it fits the stock radiator nicely using the stock rubber ends. Heres another post on it. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...-radiator.html.

I'd only do that as a last resort. It's a lot easier to clean up the booster than refinish your whole engine bay. Totally worth it to get new washer / coolant bottles. I got mine from hawks.

I got the engine pulled back out so doing that wouldn't be that hard. Thats why I was trying to get some ideas before I put the motor back in. Although I do kinda like the idea of a black firewall I wouldn't want the whole engine bay black unless the exterior was black. Should be able to drop my motor off at the shop sometime next week or so.

I agree with the tanks and as for a last resort I think its more of a personal preference as for me I went all black it blends with strut caps,booster, plus all the extra work into the bay ive done, exterior will be artic white

Well the heat is gone and my Firewall is Officially black and now the motor is just about back together with some new mods to it. Like a set of TrickFlow twisted wedge heads and a Bigger roller cam with roller rockers. Still hav'nt gotten a new overflow tube yet as you can see. I also still wanna get a battery relocation kit and some braided tranny lines. Just have to get a piece here and a piece there since money is always an issue, but its coming back together nicely. Also need to pick up some black wire loom now. Hopefully if everything goes ok I may get the motor back in tomorrow.

I got rid of the overflow canister and replaced it with a 4th gen bottle that hides nicely under the battery. Filler neck pops up next to the battery for easy access.

I thought about doing that as well. But I wanted to move the battery to the rear in a sealed case kit.

you can still do it without the battery being there. I think it looks much better without the bottle on the fender well

The chrome overflow bottle looks nice and will go well with the engine you have but how do you monitor the coolant level ? I’ve seen some with a transparent tube that runs the length of the bottle but I don't see one on this. It looks like you have a smaller version of overflow tank than I have so with a solid white mounting point a solid bright white tank will blend in nicely. Here are two pages of bottles to choose from if you decide to go that wrought and theres even the 4th Gen bottle.
