Re: shaved cowl panel

Would make it hard to service the windshield wipers providing somthing was to ever happen to the wiper motor or linkage or whatnot...

Re: shaved cowl panel

thats the one thing i wish i had done on my engine bay. about 2 years ago i completely smoothed out my engine bay. it came out great but every time i look at the cowl i get think "i should smoothed that out". its a full drag car so it doesn't matter about serviceability.

Re: shaved cowl panel

I came across this thread while searching for what I am currently doing and thought I would post my picture and thoughts. I believe what I did is as close to a shaved cowl/wiper area as you can legally get. I decided to keep the windshield wipers after reading the laws for a few states. Basically every vehicle that came with wipers has to keep the wipers on and functional. Yes, yes, we all know someone who removed and blocked theirs off or we saw a car at a show that has them removed and they are driving the car on public roads yada, yada, yada. But the thought looms that if I moved to another state or sold the car to another state's driver and the car had to undergo a safety inspection it would not pass without functional wipers. Also if any LEO wanted to be a thorn in my side he could do a variety of things. Yes there are states where officers can deem the car unsafe for public roads if the wipers aren't added back. Welding over and smoothing out the wiper mounting area is permanent, with no return, unlike many of the other laws that our vehicles may skirt or disregard altogether.

You have to keep the large openings (large enough for your hands at least) to be able to service, install or remove the wipers
