Here are some Mickey thompsons I have on my car. I am a big fan of these style valve covers, especially if they are painted with polished tops. Black chrome valve covers are another option that would look great IMO.

I have the MrGasket chrome valve cover caps. I've yet to put them on. Basically they look exactly like stock centerbolt valve covers just in chrome.

Here are mine....gave the factory covers a light 180 grit scuff then applied some Duplicolor Charcoal Gray Met. paint. Didn't turn out too bad.

dont buy any of the cheap, stamped steel, chrome ones. guarantee if you take them off after 1 year they'll be rusting on the inside. must be something with over-seas quality? the factory steel ones dont seem to do it.
i'll stick with aluminum valvecovers.

where did you find these corvette valve covers? i cant find them anywhere...i must be doing it wrong.

those particular ones i found on Ebay. but i have also seen them localy in our classifieds. I searched "center bolt corvette valve covers" i did have to search for a while till i found a set on Ebay. they vary from 40 bucks to about 150 bucks a set. mine were 40 cuz they were a little rough, but i was planning on painting them anyway, so i didnt mind.

p.s. they are a magnesium i believe FYI

p.p.s im also willing to bet if you placed a want ad on this site someone will have some.

K I found some on ebay under "corvette valve cover" you have to sift thru a lot, one way nice set $250 (HOLY COW!!!!) also I found a few for around $150. anyway, hope this helps.

Even though they may be magnesium, do you think they can be polished? Just polished my plenum and will polish my SLP runners and throttle body too

i dont think they would polish. best case would be chrome (expensive) or maybe spray paint them brightass silver or something. You may get lucky and find someone who has chromed theirs and is now selling them.

mine feel plastic idk why they would waste mag on valve covers. sounds like a waste of reasources.

The "plastic" Vette valve covers are found on LT-1 engines. L-98 engines were metal.

that motor looks awesome! I like those chevy valve covers, theyre kinda like "old school" muscle look, but i need center bolts for mine. I like the idea of polishing the corvette covers to match my plenum and such, gonna polish my whole intake.

The Corvette ones are cool, but I also like the simplicity of reusing the factory covers and with patience and care, get a great result like this.

Or you can get adapters and run old skool perimeter bolt covers. $90 is a small price to look cool!

This may be a dumb question, but have you taken them off to verify that they won't accept either kind? My heads came drilled for both. I know not all are that way, though. Just curious.

finally found some center bolts, for $40 bucks i bought it, hopefully will get them soon so i can clean them up. seller said theyre painted with "black wrinkle" paint, although my plan is to polish them and paint the inside of the fins black to match my plenum.

OK not a 3rd gen, but it has a chevy engine. ..This is my brother's 2000 Cadillac Catera...we are putting a small block in it..for Christmas I had the valve covers made for him...I took the valve covers to a sign shop had stencils Made..then took them to a body shop and had them sand blasted..

sorry for no updates in a long time, finally got all the parts to build my motor, and spent a few days putting it all together so it's ready to go at the end of March.
I'm not so happy about the way these valve covers came out,turns out these ones werent cast very well so its not polishing well, i sanded and sanded and sanded but i felt like i was close to going through the magnesium. I only spent $40 for these, so maybe next year i'll try again or i'll look for new valve covers.


(had to use paint remover to get the black crinkle paint off the previous owner painted them)

They do make adapters....

Try contacting these guys. They mention custom engraving. Perhaps they'll consider doing engraving on covers you provide. The Firebird engraving looks pretty nice.

Just some food for thought If you could get yours to polish they should look cool. It doesn't have to be high polish to look good.
These were on a 35 Ford I had I alway liked the satin blacked out centers with polished fins / Corvette......

I got this ball milled set for $50 shipped (see attached pic) I'm going to scuff and paint them red and leave the ball milled grooves polished.

I had some red stock like valve covers on the engine, but I didn't think they looked great, and was worried about clearance.

I had intended to get a pair of those Corvette VC's at one time. They are most definitely magnesium. Why, I don't know. The LT4 (and corvette LT1?) had black centerbolt composite. Very cool. Anyhow, I Had talked to a guy here about whether or not they could be polished, and he said yes, but it's very labor intensive. ....guessing the OP is finding that to be the case as well.

I have a set of VC's, just like those ball milled ones, but without the milling. Ran them as polished for a few years, then painted them silver metallic to match the TPI for a few years, then hit them a little black crinkle, which is how they are now.
