Corvette center bolt valve covers????
So I bought them off eBay. I'm in the process of striping them. Thought they were rough cast, but they seem pretty smooth to me. Is this normal for these?

Pic might not do it justice, but I can say they are much, much smoother than the upper plenum.

Re: Corvette center bolt valve covers????
The covers are made of magnesium and are smooth. The texture is part of the primer/paint that was put on at the factory.
I've read on other forums that once stripped of the primer/paint, the covers have all kinds of visible casting flaws.

I was expecting to find upper plenum roughness or worse. Guess I need to finish stripping and decide what type of finish I want. Thought paint would be my only option. Now what to do. Hmmmmm.

Here are mine, gave them a good clean, light 180 grit scuff and applied some Duplicolor Charcoal Gray Met. paint. Didn't turn out too bad.
