Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?

'Restomod' is restoring it and making it better, such as improving the performance. Those aren't restomods.

A lot of those car shows I don't even like, because they desecrate collector cars, like "Overhaulin" (gotta admit, that Adrienne is a babe though), and "Fast N Loud" after what they are doing to a '71 Challenger. , and that Jeff Allen (Car Chasers) is an idiot who doesn't know what cars are worth ($14,000! for a 455 TA - a 4.9 Turbo is worth more than THAT!; $10,000 for a GN)

Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?

Agreed, I just don't get the Donk wheel thing. Several cars above would look better with more traditional wheels. I've been showing the far end of Mods, but not so far over cars are welcome too. My original question still stands.

I actually think this one looks pretty cool! I'm not a fan of obvious ripoffs but the lines actually work pretty well. If you take a close look at an original Mopar Superbird the lines don't really suit the body at all -- pointy nose on a boxy sedan.

I'm with you. At first it was what the? Then I laughed, then I noticed how good a job the guy did.

It kind of has that going to the track look.

Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?

I think that superbird knock off is a photochop. Look at the rear wing & the quarter panel decals, they look off.

I still cant get over that green machine with the diamond incrusted tail lights lol. It looks frigging hilarious! Whats more is it has texas plates... hopefully it's not near me, I would hate to see that in person.

Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?

The white lettering in the rear and on the hood are photo shopped for sure, but the nose looks legit. Look at the reflection from the quarter panel to the nose. Anything can be done with pictures these days though.

I think you're right about the nose... or it's one of the better photoshops I've seen.

Seriously officer!

I think my car is possessed!

It just ate the lunch of a Porsche minding its own business!

Yesterday it was just a plain jane RS Camaro, and now THIS!

The rear wings look like their made of clay lol. and the front... that's the worst thing I've ever seen.

I'm starting to regret subscribing to this thread lol.

Re: At what point do "Resto Mods" go too far?

A few subtle body modifications can look good if done well. Major body changes are too much. Also don't like it when the car is too far over the top, making it less functional...like huge wheels, huge spoilers, chrome brakes and/or suspension parts, roll bars for cars that don't need it etc.

To me a restomod should look close to stock on the outside minus the wheels and brakes and have a modern more powerful drivetrain. Kind of like how the car would look/perform if it would have been built now vs in the 70s-80s. It also should be fully functional and drivable, like a modern performance car.
