New exhaust tip help
Im looking for new exhaust tips. The guy i bought the car off of did a cat delete with what i believe is a flowmaster 80 series muffler. Im pretty sure its all 2 1/2 inch pipe. It sounds good but i cant stand the huge shotgun the exhaust tips! Im jusr not a fan of the look. I think the look awkward sticking out as much as they do. I want something similar to the original where they are tucked up in the back or just not as noticable.

Tips look good to me but to save money and keep the tips why not try to tuck your tips up under more by shortening the pipe between the tip and muffler?

Re: New exhaust tip help
I have a turn down tucked in behind the bumper. The tip is just a little lower than the bumper but cannot be seen by anybody behind the car. I like the clean look better than exhaust tips showing.

personally I like the square style ones. they seem to fit the Camaro a lot better.

stock style is available at RA (and probably other places). 2 1/2 in connection to muffler. Walker/Dynomax

I just always felt that everything should be flush. Something that tucks up and turns down is what i like the most on our cars. If the bumper had cutouts for the tips it would be a different story.

Rather than ordering something have a muffler shop run them just like you want it from the muffler back. That's what I done mine are kind of hid and pointing downward. My exit pipes are 2.5in with 2.75 in chrome outlets.

They are sharp Ron. I like the 2.75 outlet I run them on my car and my GMC Sierra. Mine are tucked just inside i don't like them to stick out any.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys. The big tips seem to look good on some cars, but they just wern't for me. I ended up going with something i saw quite awhile ago and always wanted to try.

It's just a shared opinion; I agree that Third Gen rear ends just aren't made for exposed exhaust tips. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's getting the tips to clear the bumper cover exposes too much of the tail pipe when viewed from the side
I like the 2nd Gen T/A turn downs.

Re: New exhaust tip help
I ran into a similar issue trying to decide.. my cat went bad and was rattling and I ended up doing the whole exhaust system..
I was at a Custom Exhaust place that can bend and weld anything you want and get you out the door pretty quick... unfortunately he was having me decide between pipe sizes, tip styles, chrome tips, aluminized tips, Black tips, etc.. said he could adjust the angle of the pipes, etc.. too much
The exhaust guy working on my car said it looks like the stock pipe was just bent down and cut.. nothing special.. he said it’s probably so the exhaust wouldn’t black out the bumper with soot so they pointed it down..
I liked the chrome tips, but mine were 3.5” and stuck out 2” past the bumper which was a little aggressive..
I went down to a 2.5” tip angled with the body lines but he said the tip has to come out at least 1/4” past the bumper or the paint will get exhaust residue. So that’s what we did.. you can still notice the tips from certain angles and distance from the car but when you walk up to the car you don’t really see them as much..
He said if I wanted just a regular pipe bent down and cut like the stock ones I could bring it back and have it done in 15 minutes for pretty cheap.. he also thought black tips might be cool..
I am really digging the magnaflow muffler I must say.. sounds pretty stock and quiet at idle but has a snarky growl when you step on it!
The bird looks nice btw!
