pics of my new neons, what you guys think?
#7
Looks really good man! Is that just 2 on the side? Its kinda hard to tell.. taking pics of Neons and having them turn out is tricky!
When I bought my car it had 2 48" Purple Street Glow tubes on it, and I was kinda skeptical myself, but I got them hooked up, turned em on and was surprised! Unfortunatly one of the tubes is a little "slow" so I ordered another Street Glow kit the other day, should be here soon! Im going to do Two Tone.. Purple and Neo-Blue. Ill post pics when its all installed. Here is a pic I took of them after I got em working... for some reason my old digital camera made them turn out blue!

hey everyone thanks for all the positve comments.i was expecting someone to go the rice route in their response, but it seems a majority of the guys around here know when and where the neon craze started(talking about the :hail:streetrod scene of course!),and how cool they really are done right.READ: NO TUBES VISIBLE!!
-i bought the streetglow gold series kit at www.buyneonlights.com for 175,and they were a PITA to install.there is almost no space to mount them, and routing the wire totally sucked.but it was worth it!
-no i have all 4 sides, but the rear is really dim because i actually mounted it under the bumper support webbing, which i will change when the weather gets nice.im gonna put it on the rear support member, where it will be hella brighter.
AmorgetRS Those are sweet looking. What brand did you get? Easy install?

i agree with the terrible picture, but it's very hard; i haven't gotten it right either!
i must say i love the red, red on a red car shows really nice; i love my kit.
as far as being a PITA, try fitting 2 undercar kits and making it look clean? that was a lot of fun that i never want to do again, but it's fun to be able to change 3 different colors underneath!!

Man I used to have a set of blue ones on my rs about 3 years ago, and they were the coolest looking things ever, and everyone out here called me rice, I think it was cuase they were jealous, cause everyone who did had **** boxes, but a racoon took one of mine out as I accidently took him out, I think im gonna order me another set, ill have to remount the side ones though, cause of frame ties, but enough of my rambling it looks good as hell. I agree though you need a license plate neon it finished it off on mine. oh yes and how do you put the pic of your car underneath your name like that?

Neon Lights
Those red lights are awesome! I want to install the black light kit in the spring on my 82 Camaro. I do have some interior lights that I installed. Neons can complete a car sometimes! Just watch out for cops, they all hate my lights around here (MA)!!!
Anyway, someday I will post some pics of my blue lights.

much better!
now, you need to get a pic where the car shows up well and so does the neon light.......like around dusk!
looks like you did a decent job, the only problem i see and it's a minor one would be the plastic air deflector is blocking alot of your light leaving a line...........there's not much you can do except add a tube to the otherside; it makes a huge difference though.!
just an idea, otherwise lookn good.

boy that sounds really stupid coming from a guy that has the quote "looks are everything" in his sig.i guess that neons dont dont effect the looks.i have respect for your car.ive seen your website and its one beautiful camaro.but it is your opinion, and your opinion only.and its one that doesnt matter to me,or anyone else that supports neons for that matter.everyone else seems to like them,so im happy.ill just sit here and point and laugh at your queer MOMO yellow(rice color)and black seats that dont match the car at all.

91rsrider: Looks great! I have red too. I like how the front tube shines out from behind the fogs. Is the tube visible from behind there if you're looking at the fogs?
Also, as far as the back one goes, here's what i tried: You know how you can see the bottom of the storage area (trunk.. whatever you wanna call it) you can see if you kneel down? there's a metal lip between the edge of that and the rest of the car. The only problem w/ this is that you can see the tube all the time. To remedy that: I had some house siding lying around. Took one panel of that. cut it to about as long as the tube is, and about 5" wide and folded it at a 90* angle, then put that so its mounted w/ the same screws at the tube, and blocks the view of the tube. Its hard to explain, but it works like a charm , and the coverpiece doesn't stick out or look bad. I'm at school now but I'll try to send over a pic later.
unforgiven: what was the point of you posting that dang picture AGAIN? If you don't have anything useful to contribute, don't reply. You sometimes have some good points and good stuff to share, but give it a rest w/ the needless replies.
Mr.IrocZ: you said the same thing about my neons, word-for-word, when I posted the pics. I thought by now you'd have come up w/ a little better way to add criticism (which you're entitled to have and share), but i guess not. You come off pretty harsh man.

Sup guys..i did the same install on my rs, the same kit, but with green bulbs. Here they are. I agree in that wiring was a PITA..but mounting was easy..on the back i put it a bit in and put it right on the ground effect. Try that out..makes it easier to do, glows bright, and cant be seen too easy. This is my first time puttin pics in a post..i apologize if they end up too big. The rear neon looks dulled due to the flash, but if u look close u can see the reflection on the driveway

People could think/say 18 inch Iroc rims look "*****" Unforgiven I hav to agree with Jim 86 Bird Whuts with the stupid post? Trying hard to get your post number up there? 91RS...it looks good, I want to see them back boys in person.

I totally agree with Mr. Iroc Z
Here we laugh at people who do that. They take your eyes off the car and to the street. They detract from the looks of the car.
You guys sure are pretty defensive of your neons, yet you are all the same guys who call rice on other people. Take a look in a mirror. I don't really consider neons rice, but I think they look totally gay, detract from the look of the car, and are not worth getting pulled over for.

91rsrider,
The pic in your sig looks terrible. Use ACDSee to reduce the size of the pictures for your sig. It will do a lot better job for you and won't produce any of those jaggies. It's shareware so you can use it for a while a see just how superior it is. You'll thank me later

I'm thinking about loading some neons in the front nose grille, I think that would look extremely sweet. Has anyone done this yet? I got an 84 Z28, where there are 2 seperate grilles and the liscense plate mount in the middle. Also thought about making some cutouts in a louvered hood, on the downslant behind the louvers and mounting neons under there for a glow coming out of the engine compartment. Cool looking lights though man!

I never knew so many people had neon here. And i was sure there was gonna be more posts about them being rice... I just put in red ones to go in the driver and passenger "feet wells?"
It looks so cool with my Sony Xplod head unit. But thats all the neon for me... i dont wanna over do it... that (I think) would be rice.
GoldenSwordZ28 it would be funny to get a red glow coming from the engine compartment, bet you would scare all kinds of people.

wow.......i'm going to take off my neons right away! heaven forbid i get laughed at.
what's so hot about your cars that gives you the right?:hail:
it's ashame that other people have to go so low as to put down a fellow thirdgen owner........??
there is nothing wrong with posting an honest opinion, but come on guys!
you don't like them; fine don't put them on your car.......to go as far as to point an laugh really makes you sound like a jackass! just read the thread and move on; don't be an ***-hole and put other people down for their tastes.
some people like them and others don't, as with many mods that most of have done..........
for those who don't have neons and are thinking about them, go for it.....as long as it's done tastefully they are a very nice "compliment" to an already beautiful car! you will get many compliments and stares if done right...........
if all of you will excuse me i'm going to go make some crop circles now...........

I love neons on under the car...but do not like them inside the car. It is just my taste...everyone has an opinion...and I dont know why people just cant accept other peoples tastes. All your cars look great....I think I want to get some now. I think they look good as long as you dong go overboard. Also...I think it would be cool to have like a black light...i dont know if that would work on the outside...but it should on the inside. My friend had a black light in his car(a 3" neon). I just dont like how the neons are stuck in visible sight in the interior...maybe if there was a way to hide them it would look better.

and you know as soon as you see the topic that this will get the "rice" crap because that is how people here are. I simply say that I don't want them on my car, but there are things on my car that people would not want on thier's. I have come to look at the creativity or the work required as the neat part and not the final results.

yea, ive seen it, and yes, it is nice. i could careless if someone likes it or not, just stating the "UFO" comment was pretty childish.
"Daddy, there's a ufo in the driveway!"
"No sweetie, daddy just forgot to turn off his underbody neons"

Mr.Iroc has a very nice car... so what? Does that has ANY bearing on how his opinion weighs in on an on-line forum? I think not. Especially when they are childish, close minded comments like that. Unfortunately too many people have closed minded opinions about cars. This is in every car group, from VW owners, to ricers, to Thirdgen owners. Too bad that group seems to be dominate in a lot of the Thirdgen scenes, which is really sad.
I was glad to see over on vwvortex.com (which I read once and awhile) when one person made a comment like IROCs about American cars, and a bunch of people, VW owners to be exact, told him that he was mistaken and needs to open his mind a little... in a little meaner way... too bad the moron that ruined the entire thing for me was a domestic car owners (Thirdgen owner to be exact) that came in and made a total *** of himself...
Okay, rant off....
The neons look totally sweet, and I want to do it, too! I am glad that air dam won't be a problem for me, nor will where to mount the rear neon, I hope.

Wow guys.........it looks like I started a war! Sorry about that!
I respect your cars and what you guys do to them. Every region in the county has differerent tastes and styles. I am just stating that neon tubes here in California have been out since the late 1980's.
If you guys like them, then I support you 100%. Sorry about the UFO comment, but cmon.....they do kinda look like lil UFO's with the lights underneath them......hehehhe......it's a joke guys....!
And for whoever stated that I have rice on my web page....that's right........that 1995 RX-7 Twin Turbo and the 1994 Acura Integra turbo will make many of you guys wish you didn't talk smack about ricers. Those cars run 11.98 and 12.58 in the quarter respectively! So please.......get your facts straight before you speak. Just because they are Japanese made cars has no right for u guys to call them rice.
