Depends on what you are doing...a dash panel is a simple piece to make, and cost of materials would be nowhere near $300. The main reason we didn't go with off the shelf stuff is that its usually only made one way, so you wind up having to cut or alter it (or worse yet, don't have pieces for extra equipment on your car). Redraif's car is far from stock, esp in the interior, so it was easier for us to just make the stuff. Besides, we can get small pieces of material for free (within reason), so the only expense is the resin.

I was figuring that is why you made the stuff, because stuff was altered! I was just telling him, if he had a stock interior he would be better off getting a kit for his specific application so all he would have to do is apply the pieces to his interior! That would be a lot easier for him instead of going through the trouble of making the pieces that would have the same exact effect. I only have the dash panel, not the whole kit, so yes, mine was cheaper! Good luck

Have any of you guys cheked out WWW.Mrmikes.com ? He has really nice leather seat kits and door panels for third generation Camaros & firebirds. They are a little pricey, but for around $1000 to $1200, you can have an awsome leather seat and door panel kit.

I got seats from a 96 camaor...the black and red velour ones for 600 dollars (plus 100 s+h)!!! And they aren't even leather. i could have shelled the extra money for the leather seats...damn...Damn...DAMN. I really have to get better at researching

I'll take pics of my interior and post em here. it was totally redone. Plus it will give me a reason to clean my car.

They have some nice stuff...we'll probably go with that in Redraif's car. The leather quality is much higher than the crap GM uses on 4th Gen seats (I have owned two 4th gens with leather, bought one new and the other with 9000 miles on it...even being well cared for, its still junk). $1200 may seem pricey, but ask any of the guys with custom leather interiors how much they cost...you'd be looking at $2500 or more, easy.

Having seen your interior in person, I would say that is really a bargain!

I thought so

The ONLY way it worked the way it did was I only had to buy one pelt of leather. He already ahd the dark gray that matched the center console/dash, and I had to pay for a little yellow.

I think that is where I will get my seat covers from. I went to a local places and they wanted 1000-1200 to recover my seats in the factory fabric in black. For the same amount I will get leather and put it on myself.

I got them from 1aauto. You have to buy their floor mats and then add the embroidery as an option. They cost about 100 bucks for the set. You can get them in all different colors and probably get the bird in different colors too.

I have done a bit of custom interior work. I would like to do some more, but I havn't been able to come up with any more ideas.
I have a custom headliner...you've probably already seen it though.

I also cut out the sail panels so I could add the screens to the 6x9s. I thought they looked too go to be hiding behind the covers.
Sail panel speakers

The how-to's are in the sig...for the headliner at least. The sail panels are actually a little harder than a headliner though.

tzfbird, that is an amazing headliner. I really mean that. You must be proud. It makes me almost wish that I didn't have t-tops. Write a tech article about it. That would be nice to make for my door panels though...

Did you use closed cell foam (the camp matting) or open cell (the softer squishy stuff).

Well.. If you guys thought the headliner was BAD-A$$. You better hold on for the door panels. I have 1 done. I'll get a pic up later today. I don't want to sound cocky.. but they are probably my best work yet.

Metalli....thanks for the compliments man.

Redraif...coming from you that makes me proud. Finally some decent recognition for the work that went into my doorpanels. BTW...you don't need black doorpanels, use your own and get them dyed.
Well I finally got some black door panels...look out! I'm going to be going all red and black soon! I just have to get some spare fabric to duplicate what I have already done in the grey and black to make it red and black instead. In other works...door panels like 3.1eyecandy, then black cargo panels with red inserts to match these seat covers...

Man I hope its not too loud...it will catch some eyes at the shows though!

I'm working on a custom interior including rear seat removal, RX-7 storage boxes, and 4th gen door panels and console. Probably late September before I'll have pics though.

I recently re-upholstered my factory seats

The front and rear seats are now Blue and Silver (To match the exterior of the car) as well as custom, digitized embroidered "Z28" in Blue w/ silver outlining, and "25th Anniversary" in red on the front seats.

Took over 20 hours (Sat & Sun) for me to remove the seats from the car, remove the old upholstery (factory light grey "p"leather), install the new custom leather upholstery, hog ring, cut out holes for screws, bolts, headrest, etc, and take lots of pictures along the way.

I am doing a complete review on the seats which is why all the pics were necessary and why it took so long. After much aching hands, fingers, back, cuts.. finally got them installed and into the car.

Here are some pics of them in the car. Note: These are not the best quality. They were taken during sundown and I've yet to have been able to take good pics when it's sunny (always raining on the weekend).

The blue on the seats might look shiny but that is because of the flash on the camera reflecting. Just letting you know since people are accusing me of painting for the seats, or they are too glossy.. ;-)

Personally I am very happy with the results. Definately looking forward to going to the next bunch of car shows next year. :-)

I finally did my own black and red door panels...
Now whole interior is red and black...new red and black seat covers on PMD seats...all black plastic interior pieces...red cargo area inserts...

I would post pics, but my pic links are not working in other threads, so instead here is a link to my interior website ...it details all my custom interior modifications...its up to date unlike my old site that I can't get into the edit page to update...
