Yet another 4th gen dash question

Ok has anyone gotten the heater and AC controlls to work without the 4th gen air box. I don't even mean the 4th gen controls. if I retain the 3rdgen controls can I make them work and blow through the 4thgen vents that is all I care about. Any response is appreciated. I am going to attemp it if knowone else has. hell people always said,"No, the 4thgen console, Dash and door panels won't fit in a 3rdgen" but they were proven wrong. Now I want to make it fully functional while retaining the 3rdgen controls and just roughting the ducting. We'll see. *Crosses fingers*

It is possible to get the ducts to line up. but.. you have to do some cutting. the third gen ducting in the dash is set at an angle up to line up with the box coming off the firewall. The 4th gen dash duct is straight across. I just took a Dremal and cut the plastic back to a matching angle. lines up great. i'm wishin now i had taken pictures of doing that, but since that dash in all bolted up in the car, kinda hard to do now. but yes, you can get them to line up so you can use the vents

What if you got the 4th gen airbox? I am going to attempt to have the entire car changed into a 4th gen, minus the main body of course.

I did it, left the 3rd gen controls. screwed some heater hose to the 3rd gen air box and routed it to 2 vents, on on left one on right. i plan on splitting it to all the vents when i get time, just so much crap going on at once lately theres not time to get anything done. my 3rd gen controls arent mounted permenantly, still looking for a good spot that suits me. right now its temporarily secured out of view under the dash, but still within reach.

the black box that has the opening pointed at the drivers side is where the cold a/c and vent air comes out. it has two vacuum controlled doors on it (one a/c on vent) that open to let the air out when you select a/c or vent. if the doors are closed on that part, the air goes out of the part that is just to the left, through ducts up to the defroster. i just disconnected my vacuum lines that ran to the a/c control so that the cold a/c air comes out the defrost ports, but i sealed the air comming out of the defrost vents and routed it with flex dryer hose and zip ties. works like a champ. the fix for no defrost, rain x anti-fog. works like a champ.

A good place to expirement with rain-x antifog is on your bathroom mirror. Divide your bathroom mirror into two width-wise peices. Apply rain-x antifog to one half but do not apply it to the other half.

After taking a long hot shower, you'll notice that the rain-x antifog covered portion of the mirror will get some fog on it but not nearly as much as the non-covered portion of the mirror will.

That won't do me any good, since I don't like the 4th gen bodies all that much, I just like some of the styling features of them.

If I had lots and lots of disposable income, I'd buy a Z06 and put the interior and drivetrain into my 86 T/A, maybe even the suspension too.
