Got tagged!

Some loser backed into my '89 Formula with his truck. I'm wondering where I can get the decal that makes the transition between the red and the gray paint. I circled the one I'm writing about in black. My second question to you guys is do you even think they'll need to replace my Formula 350 decal? The damage to the door and fender are circled in white. Thanks for your help fellas.

Well if you get it repainted after the repairs are fixed and you want it done right then they are going to have to repaint the whole door, which will mean a new door decal.

That sucks because that means I'll have to replace that decal between the red and gray there too. Do you guys think they'll replace the fender or bang it out?

Got any better pics? Or could you take some more? Its really hard to see the damage in that first pic. I can see the door damage somewhat but I can't see any damage to the fender really.

It shouldn't matter. I hope you are going to make that guys insurance pay for it. Wether or not the fender is salvagable is hard to say from the picture, but as long as it meets your approval when the body shop is done, it shouldn't matter either. You did get a police report, right????

Make sure that since this was his fault, that his insurance company pays for ALL necessary repairs. The decals have faded slightly over the years and a new one on the door and fender won't match up with the rear quarter. Make sure the car doesn't look like it was repaired when done. Also, don't let them tell you where to take the car for repairs. You are entitled to take the car to the shop you desire and they have to pay all reasonable costs. I have heard of some insurance companies try to get the other guy to send the car to Maaco since it was an older car.

Also, some body shops will peel off the body side molding and try to reuse it with cheap double sided tape. Request that this be replaced with new also. You don't want a hack job done when someone else was at fault. Good luck.

I know his insurance company is good because I've got the same one! Also, I've had my other two cars to the body shop I plan to take my car to and they do excellent work. I had them paint my fiberglass aero spoiler and it matches perfectly. As for the police report, I probably won't file one. I'm not really friends with the guy, but I don't dislike him either (we work together) and I'm not entirely sure he didn't have a couple beers. A couple beers might be just enough to get him a DUI. I don't think it's worth burning the guy over that because everyone makes mistakes. Hell, 2 months after I first got my license (back in 1988) I hit another guy with my dad's truck. I spent an entire summer working to pay for the repairs, but at least he was cool enough not to involve the police or our insurance companies.

Just an FYI, it's too late for them to nail him with DUI. If they didn't test at the time of the accident, they can't prove he had anything to drink.

At least you aren't being a total a**hole about it like most people do.

ThirdGen owners are the only people that don't go totally nuts and way outta line when this stuff happens... odd....

Good luck with the car man... damn shame when that happens to a ncie car.

With an attitude like yours, you can expect good things to come out of this! :hail:

I just think what goes around comes around, you know? I need all the good luck I can get. On top of all this I have an oil leak to track down. It used to be small up until last month and now I'm losing about 1/8 cup ever night. Jeez, what's next?
