Door dented by Mustang!

I park at Autozone today (far away from everyone else parked) to buy a carb rebuild kit. When I'm paying in line I see a new Mustang backing out of the spot next to me and leaving. So after it left I walked out and my alarm chirped when it disarmed. Come to find a nice dent in the door with the paint scratched off. What My door was perfect till this happened

You should find that mustang and humiliate him by beating the crap out of him in a race.

Drive a car daily and it's bound to happen. Either live with it or put it in a plastic bubble and admire it. My camaro isn't exactly nice but, I've found a few new door dings in it as well. Annoying, certainly but, s--t happens. Not as many people care about your car as you do.

True, but my gripe is I go out of my way to park farrr away from the front door and someone parks right next to me (even though there are spots 2 steps away from the front door) just to let their door fly out an whack me. There are 20 spots closer and empty, they could park even 2 spaces over and be able to open their door all the way with no probs. I'm not so sure it was an accident.

I know how you feel bud. You go out of your way to protect your baby but, there are a blinding number out there that will go out of thier way to be an **** and put that dent in your door because they see your car where it's at knowing why you parked there and, well, they suck. Sadly, it's human nature to be that way. Iwasn't meaning what I said to be against you though.

I say find that ford fagot and beat the crap outta him. there is a way to solve the door ding problem. Do what i do seems to work i park out as far as i can and never park in one space. 1. Usually people dont park next to me when i'm parked illegally. and 2. Parking in one space just isnt my style. At places like work and parts stores i'll usually park totally the wrong way not just at an angle. Like the spaces go like the spaces are east/west i'll park north/south. At work they dont care plus people are always checking it out. I'm like i have to drive it everyday and it sits outside but is still always taken to the shows and wins stuff so i gotta take care of her.

I usually pull my crappy '87 Suburban right up next to illegally parked cars. Double parked is my favorite. I double park right next to them. No intention of damaging anything, just letting them know that my 'burban is just as special as thier baby. I've always parked my T/A, normally, in a far away spot. Haven't had any problems.

When people damage your vehicles, that is taking it a little too far. By the way, ****** has two 'g's.

Double parking doesnt bother me. What I really hate is when people completely park in the wrong direction.. it sends that message, "HEY LOOK AT ME, IM MR. COOL-GUY." Maybe its just me, but I can't stand show-offs who have nothing to show. Now, if theres a really nice car parked in the complete wrong direction, thats ok.

see i always park at an angle but it wasnt till i got it painted that i started parking it in the totally wrong way. I dont care if people think i'm a show off i adnmit it i am but alot of people look at the car now and are like.... damn thats sweet so its not liek i'm parking in the wrong direction to show off garbage it's nice i know it is my main thing is i dont want people nailing or chipping my paint all the money i've made over the last 2.5 years has gone into it and i dont want it destroyed by some yuppie who thinks he can slam everyones doors with his brand new cedes. I'm not taking this offensive in anyway to what 82firebird said i'm just making my poin ti wouldnt show it off if i had nothing to show off. Sorry about the spelling i'm kinda really ****faced right now.

I hear ya!! My friends threw a frisby at my car the other day when I pulled up to a friends party and when I was leaving I noticed there was a dent from it!! Some people have no respect!! And because someone was being a dumb ***. No one else really cares because they care less about cars, have a POS, or drive mommy and daddys car.

I can't stand it when people park like that. Your not special. You don't deserve more than one space. "Parking in one space isn't my style" is NOT cool. That is just being an arrogant ***. I do go out of my way to **** people off that do things like that. I will park close enough to them so they have to go in on the passenger side. At least that is what I did when I had a daily beater to drive.

What I do is I park in a far away space and I park as perfect as possible leaving as much room as possible for anyone who would park around me. Being cautious and courteous about your parking is way better than parking like a jack ***. I know people that will key you or worse for doing things like quoted above. Your vehicle is not so special you can act like a dick and park however you want.

I usually don't go on rants about stuff like that but when there are no spaces to park because enough room isn't left by some jackass who thinks he is special it kinda sets me off. I don't get screwed with by parking correctly. Part of the reason I am so aware of parking issues is because I drive a big truck usually. And when some ******* parks like that and I can't find a place to park I find it irritating. I just want to beat the living **** out of any ******* who parks that way. I never have, but I do tell people what I think of them if I see them getting in or out of their vehicles when they are parked as such.

Ok I am done ranting.

On a another note there is no way the poster could have prevented the dent. The guy in the Mustang went out of his way to do that. It is unfortunate but what can you do?

How bad is the damage? Will it be easy to fix? I am sorry to hear that your car got messed up. I am fortunate to have another vehicle so I don't have to risk my Trans-AM as a daily driver.

Ok I am done ranting.

I see where your coming from and i should have made myself more understandable i do that at work i work at an ice arena and the lot is huge and a full lot around the side thats always empty when its real crowded i'll park around back near the Zamboni door going outside and when it looks like its going to have the weather go stupid on me so i can pull it inside. But when i close or during the day when we just have alot of dead ice and its not crowded i'll park out in the back that way. I dont do it to be a dick i just dont want people nailing it. Like everyone else i've worked day and night at 7.00$ an hour to put the 7k i have into the car into the car and i want to keep it nice my dad does the same thing with his mint 81 Z28 too. People at ice rinks carry hockey bags and sticks and always walk through the cars when i first bought it and it was in bad shape i parked right up front and always had a stick mark or streak from a bag on it. I'm not trying to be a dick i think thats the way you took it i'm just saying where i park people arent carefull with what they carry. If the lots getting full i'll pull it in right or out of the way of everyone else because when i park that way people can also block me in. Sorry dude i had to clear that up. I said it the wrong way the first time.

i was mad when my mom called me at work and said someone back into ur car's passengers door. and i was affraid to drive it that day because of the light snow and it still gets hit right in front of my house.

thats why i dont spend alot of money on paint jobs and i would be happy with a 1,500 job right now, just to make my car looks just as good as a factory job.

Well I messed around today and got the dent pushed out a bit. The paint was scraped down to bare metal so I'll need to get it touched up. Aside from bondo, I'm not sure there is much that can be done to get is perfectly smooth again. Plus I dont want to repaint the whole door cause it'll never match. Maybe I should leave the car dirty so it wont be as noticable.

Remember, even if you don't report the damage to your insurance company you can still deduct the damage from your current years' taxes. Police report probably a good idea in order to back up the deduction.

On double parking, you just bring attention to your auto. Just park normally away from most of the cars and people with think that you enjoy the walk.

I only do "movie star parking" either if its am empty lot and won't make any difference anyway, or if its somewere than i know the car will get hit otherwise, like maybe I'll park REALLY tight to an open space next to me at school so no one goes there. It aleady got hit once there, no need to have it happen again. Call me a dick if you want, but its worked so far.

years ago i got into the habit of memorizing tag numbers when coming ang going, just in case i see them pull away like that. doesn't work all the time, but not a bad practice.

my favorite is the door ding, where the guy does it when he pulls in, then goes into the building.......

i see his paint on mine......

and i have steel toe boots on 90 percent of the time!
(import lights can get expensive !!!! )

Thats basically what i was trying to say just yours came out alot shorter! I know this stuffs going to happen its a daily driver i just want to try and preserve it as much as i can. Theres always cars getting backed into at work. I love the quote, We don't build trophies we build cars to drive. My dad always said that and i saw it on a show on tlc one time i think and its true but i just want to prevent the bad.
