homemade console lid! (pics)

here's my fix for the firebrid console lid plague! (mine was so busted up, and so was every one ive ever seen in the junkyard!) so i made a new one. made a wood blank of the basic shape, and drille mounting holes. got some nice vinyl from joann fabric, got a leather awl for sewing leather....oh and some foam, and the rest is history.

the flames are stiched! a little extra foam around the licks helps them really pop.

i dont like it , it looks gay with the flames and the vinyl or leather looks out of place. sorry for the negative but you probably want the truth .

fair enough.

as far as the vinyl looking out of place, i thought so too, and that's why i covered the plastic center part of the console in front of it with it too (all the way to right past the shift ****). that you cannot really see in the pic.

Yea, the flame looks out of place too, looks like the stiching is a bit crooked. Other than that, it looks like a good job done, just need to perfect the shape of it.

I am not too sure of the flames but I got to give ya props for effort. Good job. First time I have seen someone do a lid before.
