I would like to see an OEM style fiberglass hood over a more expensive carbon fiber hood.

you're gonna get a lot of people saying they are interested, but nothing coming of it. I am without a doubt interested in the hood, but you need to give alot more details, i. e. is it a RS or Z28 style, is it pure carbon or a carbon/fiberglass mix, and of course the price.

Carbon Fiber

The hoods will be made in either Carbon Fiber/Fiber glass mix or Fiber Glass. The hood will be an OEM IROC-Z style hood that will accept either the 85-90 louvers or the 91-92 style scoops. The hood can also be left as is for RS cars. The Carbon Fiber hoods are fabricated using top quality Carbon materials, will be clear coated and are going to weigh between 15-18lbs. I'm not sure how heavy the fiberglass hood will weigh yet. The Carbon Fiber hoods will be ready in about 4-6 weeks time and will cost $895 US + shipping for a single hood. I'm in Canada so shipping will probably be between $120-$200 US. The Fiber Glass hoods will be made after the first batch of Carbon Fiber hoods are completed. Pricing on the Fiber Glass is yet to be finalized but will be significantly cheaper than the Carbon Fiber. Pics of the hoods will be available as soon as I receive the first batch of hoods. I will hovever have some pics available of other hoods that are currently in production for other vehicles to show the quality of the finished product. Please get back to me if you have any further questions.

The carbon fiber reverse cowl or the ss hood would be sweet.

A lot of people will be after it, many more people are interested that usually have quit trying to get things made when people talk of it and then dont come through, its a put up or shut up situation. Games with who will buy who wont arent going to work, people will post that they'll take it hurry up and make it, others say no way they're paying for a stock repro hood. Then some that definetly wanted it will lose their jobs, or wreck their cars, then those who said theres no way its worth it will say haha because they arent selling like hotcakes due to those who suddenly cant buy etc.

If your going to make it, please make it, the demand is out there, but it would also be nice if you made an accurate reproduction of the 91-92 blisters to go along with them.

I'm definately going to be making at least 5 Carbon Fiber ones for the first batch, because I'm making one for my car for sure. The hood is going to be one style for now (IROC-Z) to keep costs down. As far as the using louvers or scoops aren't all the Camaro hoods (Iroc or anniversary editions) between 85-92 the same.

I hope to have the first hood ready in 4-6 weeks time. I am going to put the first hood on my car to make sure that the fit and finish will be of a high standard. If I am satisfied with the quality of the hood and the way it fits the car, I will only then begin to sell the hoods to who ever else is interested in having one for their car. I don't want to make any guarantees or promises until I have a finished product in my hands that I am satisfied with.

I don't know dude. You need to get your details down.

You seam to be not sure who its gonna be made or whats its gonna fit. could fit this, could fit that.

"The hoods will be made in either Carbon Fiber/Fiber glass mix or Fiber Glass. The hood will be an OEM IROC-Z style hood that will accept either the 85-90 louvers or the 91-92 style scoops. The hood can also be left as is for RS cars. "

I am sure you'll happily take deposits right??

With 10 post under your belt I have a hard time believing it.

But I'm sure you'll take my check????

Go figure, the guy didnt ask for any deposits to get this made, he didnt say it could fit this or that, no need to be an a hole, its not too hard to figure out from his posts it will be available in carbon fiber OR fiberglass, his details are down, you apparently cannot process the information. 85-92 hoods are the same for Z28 / IROC, the only detail that isnt too great is that he said RS People could leave it as is, which wouldnt look too great since the rs did have a different hood.

we need a kick in the nuts smiley, you deserve one for your post....

id like to think i have a pretty good handle on the 3rdgen world.

if you make 5 or so (to get back the costs of the mold, materials, ect and still have a small profit)

you'll sell them NO PROBLEM.

any more then that, and you'll want orders before you make them.

my advice:
make the hood, take lots of pics... 100s of guys here will drool over them, and the 5 or so with the money will buy them right away... the remaining 15 or so that can afford to do so, will save up, then buy them.

the rest will never have the cash and lose intrest before they're able to buy it.

and so it goes in the thirdgen world.........

Once you get your hood, post pictures. I'm interested only if it is of high quality. I would love a lightweight hood that still looks stock.

i would buy one but the fit and finish would have to be pretty damn good. granted it's alot of work and you'd have to make a few to make your money back but you can walk into any material shop that does such custom work here in michigan and drop $1200 and get to have a hand in making it.

if you make them and they are good quality i'm sure you'll sell them all. never understood why the companies make the flat rs style and not the z28/iroc style. o'well..

Fact of life is, every day someone comes to this board just to scam people.

I get leary when someone only post on this board are to sell something. Sorry but seen to many people get burned that way.

Most car boards wont let new people sell stuff, until you have hung out and been part of the group.

On the Buick board I hang at, they wont sell stuff to new people. As they show up play that they need help. get a good deal playing the buddy card. And then the part ends up on Ebay for 500% profit.

Course I wont bother to say there is no commercial selling allowed on this board unless your a sponsor. He is commercial selling as he will make and sell as many hoods as people want. Not like he is just selling 1 hood. Which should still be in the classified section.

I give the guy a thumbs up just based upon the fact that he's perpetuating the non-existent aftermarket of the thirdgen. I'd like a CF hood but don't know if I could afford it. Its just nice to know that its available if I could. Carry on, show us pics, hush the naysayers.

This is exactally why I haven't bothered with the making of the hood. 95% of the people want one but don't have the $ to buy one. and to get a carbonFiber hood LIGHT like everyone things its gonna be you need to use a autoclave to make it. Pure CF is no stronger then Fiberglass unless done in a autoclave.

I'll let a few cats outa the bag, I do have a STOCK IROC hood mold done. I have 90% of the mold done for new door sills. and Im working on Int. pieces suck as radio trim, center console and plates.

BUT NOTHING will be SOLD until Im 110% happy with the product AND 1 board member that Im doing the Int. pieces for is HAPPY with them. BECAUSE I KNOW we both have very high standards and If WE BOTH think they are worthy of selling Most everyone should be happy with em.

I agree with z28racer, if you are making the iroc version of the hood that will work accept the iroc vents or the 91-92 hood blisters, I would look into making those also. You will probably get more interest if you make the carbon fiber blisters to match the hood. I don't think people will want to put the factory blisters on that don't even match the hood pattering.

i think its funny that the "majority" of people here on TGO want 110% perfect products that are"Gauranteed" to work forever and have NO defects, hand made, highest quality possible....

then act like total cheap @$$'s and dont want to pay for it..

i dont know about you.. but i dont work for free, neither do people that have these very skilled jobs, that put the countless hours, money, thought, and skill into making something.

people tend to forget, companies have employee's to pay for, and a place to make products, insurance, tools, ect.

so my message is, dont complain so much about quality if you dont have the $$$ to pay for quality stuff.

PS.. this is not directed to anyone in this thread or anyone selling or buying a product.

Exactally one more thing Im not looking forward to if I sell a few of these hoods.

1. NOTHING is gona be a Perfect FACTORY fit. with out some work. I mean Ya i use a MINT IROC hood for the mold build but the Youngest 3rdgen is still 13yrs old.

lota love and labor go into molds and $$ outa my pocket.

i think people also forget about the fitment part.

you're right, the youngest thirdgen is 13 yrs old... people forget these bodies flex and are not like they were from the factory, or bought one that was in an accident or something.. yeah its not going to line up the 1st time.. people need to take these things into consideration.

but i think the average age on this board is like 23.. so when you get kids buying things that need some work, they whine and complain, not knowing better.

although i am not in the market to buy a hood, good luck with it, i hope it turns out well.

I've bugged you a bunch of times before about a cf upper windshield trim piece for verts. I'm actually quite excited to hear that you're making int pieces and I'm sure that your stuff will be top notch from what I've heard about you powder coating stuff.

Defintately post the trim pieces when you get done.

If you need another vert test mule....

Mine weren't actually cracked. It was awesome. Then I had to replace my visor mounts before those sagged and I tightened down the screws too far. Doh!

First off I asked you to start your own thread as not to create confussion in regards to the feedback on the stock OEM type Carbon Fiber hoods. In this thread your talking about reverse cowl hoods, door sills and other interior pieces. I want to keep this thread dedicated to OEM Carbon Fiber hoods so that I can see what type of demand there is for them, by the way there are alot of people in Canada with Camaro's so it will be cheaper for Canadian people to buy from within Canada (Re: to your shipping prices). Secondly I didn't mention anything about you stealing my sales, so don't post things that are not true. Thirdly the last time I read up on this topic I didn't find anyone in North America that has a mould complete or almost complete so that's why I decided to go ahead with this project myself. Last but not least the more people that can make these hoods available the better it will be for everyone who wants them.

lol... haha.. not really!!

anyways.

I have a iroc mold 99% done already. and starting on the inverted cowl soon as I determin what size cowl everyone would like. Int. happened to be something I buddy wants so I figured WTH.

Im glad your looking to do the CF hood because Im really leaning to concentrate on roven glass. and keep the cost to the consumer down. CF is a waste unless your useing a autoclave. If you are in fact doing em that way you will have a top of the line piece which takes advantage of carbonfiber!

I'd pay $800 plus shipping for a carbon fiber power bulge hood. That would be sweet.
