Found 2 Camaro's 82- 87 for $150 each...please read

The 87 is a z-28 350 swap and the 82 has a JUNK 6 cylinder in it. Neither have been started in years the inspection sticker shows 1990 on the 82, and the 87 was last run in 96.

The 87 has great interior, good glass, hatch, and good dash (stored under a car port) the 82 has rust, has hit a curb and front end is way out of place. Dash is wayy gone, has rat turds in the interior, but I'm sure there is something useful in there....plus I have to take both...

I am thinking about buying these for parts to sell/swap for things I need but I have one little question...

What do you guys do after you strip everything usable off of them? I have a 2 car garage and a backyard where I could put one, but I don't really wanna keep the bodies around...

Will companies haul them for scrap metal?

Is it really worth the time to part these out? I love to make a quick buck but geez, but I'm scared I will have to pay more to haul them off than I would get in parts...

most scrap yard will pay you if you deliver it (friend with a car triler, use comealongs to drag it into trailer) the one catch is it can be only metal. no glass, no tires, no weatherstriping, no seats. you have to STRIP it. you can leave things like springs axles doors and suck in it and that is fine, they will take any metal. but hauling the shot interior to the dump is prolly going to cost more then the scrap yard will give you.

also unless you have a title for it they will not take a car. atleast not a whole car. if you pull off the k-member it is a "noncar" or you can saw it in half. my dad and i had to do this with a second gen camaro he was going to turn into a street stock race car untill he discovered several insurmountable problems (frame bent, restrictive cost of rollcaging to name a few)

before taking on this project i would make a low estimate on what you will be able to sell the parts for, then a high estimate (might have to do some calling around) of what it will cost you to get rid of it (pickup fees from scrap yard if you have no buddies with car triler, dump fees ect..) and see if you have a good enough profit margin to make it worth the massive amount of time it will take.

good luck, if you find an alluminum driveshaft keep me in mind

Some place around here towed my wrecked 3rd gen away for $20. It was basically stripped, only thing left was top end of engine, transmission, and dash.

i take all kinds of cars to te scrap yard and all they request it that the gas tanks out. and they take off 100lbs per tire if left on.
i leave glass weather stripping everything. the price on scrap metal it pretty good here lately. do not pay someone to hual off..if anything make them pay you because they are going to make some money off the scrap metal. around here they do not require titles, just a vin.

When you're in the middle of nowhere and there are only 2 scrap yards it tough to bargain. If you're in a good area you can probably get money.

that really sucks because around here i have more than one tow guy that i can call that will pick the car up for free because the junkyard pays them for the car. they make money as long as the car has an engine, trans, and other misc items. i guess im in a better area with more salvage yards...but i also do work at a car auction so i know alot of tow guys that would be more than willing to pick up my crap for free.

Hey , if you get them, lemme know what color is in the 87 or either for that matter. Also may need other parts. I could always use another steering wheel, leather wrap type that is. and some other stuff, and stuff, and more stuff.
