What is this hole

I have a 92 RS, and everytime I get in my car and look at the passenger side floor. There is just this spot where the floor just sinks down. Is it suppose to be this way??? I would take a picture but no digital camera . The only thing I can think of is it's there to give you more leg room, because we all know there isnt much on the passenger side. Does any one else have this mystery hole????

I've never been in a second gen, and i dont remember on a first gen, but every third and fourth gen have that "dip" in the pass. side floor. It's just kinda...there.

That would be where the normal floor is, the lump (not the dip) is razed up for the catalytic converter, for ground clearance....

Ever since the introduction of the catalytic converter on the F-body in 1975 there has been a big bump on the passenger side floor for clearance. Say "thank you" to the tree huggers.

Take a look at a 1st-gen or '70-74 2nd-gen and see how nice and flat the passenger side floor board is. Thats one of the reasons I like early 2nd-gens :-)
