Awesome, thanks for the pics guys. d10pins, how did you go about mounting it onto the 4th gen HVAC panel? Figures the weekend I start wiork on the Camaro my Blazer breaks down ... havent had much time to work on it this week. But those pics will deffinently come in handy.

this is the cable that came with the hvac. i had made a spacer for the cable, made 2 flat spots so it would sit inside of the opening. then screwed it into the the silver piece where the old cable was. then i made a bracket and screwed it where the cable snapped it place, then screwed the cable to the bracket(on the cable there are 2 hole)

Is it possible though to use the thirdgen frame? I could easily tap and die new bolt holes for the bottom panels.

Another question: Do you use the thirdgen or forthgen bottom panels?

Personally, so far I am using the 4th gen hush panels. For sure one thing I THINK you will deffinently need is the bracket thing that kinda looks like a "V" that fits up under the steering column and is attatched to the underside of the 4th gen dash. This one has a bolt hole in the center of it for the under dash panel to secure it.

tried to use the thirdgen bracket and after a little cutting, realized it isn't going to work.

Use the fourth gen bracket. It bolts to the steering column just like the third gen one.

You can also mount the bracket in the center with the old thirdgen bracket for the console. Turn it 90 degrees, bend it towards the firewall about 30 degrees and it will bolt right up.

As for the outer driver and passenger side mounts, I'm going to be fabbing some brackets out of 1.5" x 2.5" angle iron with bolts on them and welding them to the body. Doing this requires using 4th gen kick panels though, since the brackets go over the third gen ones. The 4th gen kick panels have extrusions in them for these mounts.

Wow dude. those pillars look really nice. How well did they fit? I have a set but haven't tried to cut them to put them on until I get the rest of the dash fit properly. But from what I can tell from holding them up to the pillar is that they may need to be shortened a bit. Can you show some pics of hey they meet up at the headliner and T-Top pins?

So...what was the reaction like at the car show? My body is in dire need of restoration, so i can't quite participate in a carshow as far as i'm concerned (unfinshed class i guess) But anyway, i've gotten good results on the streets, and often enough, people say nothing, which means, it looks stock (or in my case, incompleted stock). Can't wait to see what the other thirdgenners say once it's all done for me.

PS- Did you do the VSS swap in ur tranny?

i mounted the fuse box in the same location. i drilled 2 holes in the dash frame and screwed the fuse box to it. it is just behind the panel under the steering column.

here are a couple of pic of my pillars. what i did i cut the top of the t-top piece off, where the screw goes. i did not use anything else from the 3rd gen. one i had the 4th gen pillar fiting good, i cut that t-top piece off. then i put the 3rd gen t-top piece on and put the screw in it. then put the 4th gen pillar in and cut it a hair long, so it overlaps. then on the inside i jb welded it together and that it. hope this helps you guys!!

so far everybody thinks it looks stock. i just fits in there so good. i using 1 t-56 tranny and a 1990 computer, so i just need the SGI5 box to calibrate it. all guages work.

where does the 4th gen cable even lead. my heater controls are run by 3 cables, 2 for the vents, 1 for hot/cold. and the 4th gen hot/cold is also run by a cable, but i ripped off all the cables so i forget where they lead. here is a picture. the yellow circle is a cable that opens and closes a door. the one in the blue goes in behind but i think it moves that little flap up and down. is the hot/cold 4th gen cable go to either of these??

no sure how you would hook that up. my car had air so yours didnt right. i dont think you can hhok that up. unless you get a dirrenent air box out of a camaro wir air.

no i didnt have air conditioning, but i do have hot/cold, i just want to know where about on the 3rd gen heating box you mounted the 4th gen cable?

ok so see the yellow circle in the pic, straight down on the bottom part, is that where you mounted it? this is my air box since i dont have A/C. but it opens and closes a door, im assuming its a hot/cold door?

The door that needs to open and close for hot/cold is in the hole I circled in white.

Find the pivot point directly below that door, that is where the cable hooks up.

Correct, that piece flows all the air to the other doors. On your fourth gen airbox you're going to have to cut it up at an angle to match that vent piece.

way ahead of ya, already cut up, added needs lips, added foam for secure connection. Just need to get the cable installed.

i have another question i finally got the right cluster wiring and im about to splice them but i need help.

A6 low coolant - i wont be using right?
A7 air bag - i wont be using for sure
A8 TCS OFF indicator lamp what is this??

for the power feeds from coutesy fuse 8(A13 orange), fuse 9(A5 pink), fuse 9(A1 Pink) do i just hook up those to pink/black on the 3rd gen connector (power).

B17 - ABS fail signal - i wont be using for sure lol.

does anyone have detailed instructions how they made the 4th gen hot/cold cable 1.5-2.0 inches longer? did they solder some new wire one, or replaced the wires altogether?

I've never done it, but when I needed to add wire -- I either re-ran it (tie/clamp to one end and pull it through it's current route and gave me a healthy sum) or I soldered it onto it if the metal would take it.... now I know that is a tight cable, so you may want to just buy some and re-run it? Sorry I'm not more help.

Here's a question I havent seen asked ...

I have my ECM, VATS module, and something to do with the airbag sitting on the pass floor. Where did you guys put them on the 4th gen dashes?

Maybe a different choice in steering wheel? I know it fits along with the rest of the 4th gen interior theme but man is that one ugly wheel, lol

I keep saying the same thing. But he likes the stock look for his interior. You would be so suprised at how many people don't relize that he changed the whole dash. They have to take a second look. I usaually park next to him at car shows so we can point out the diffrence. We where at a car show Friday and we where playing around with are radios. One of the guys from are club drives a 2000ish z28 and was looking at the dash and radio for like 10 minutes till he realized that it was swapped out. Adam :-)

d10pins can u go into some details about the 4th gen hot/cold cable. it looks like you have a screw goin throught he middle with a washer on top also. is that the "old" 3rd gen hot/cold cable on top are you using that?

how is it exactly going to work the old cable is pull/push style, and the 4th gen is rotating.

Hey, How much did it end up costing you for the whole set up?? I have a 1991 camaro convertible that i want to do that to but havent been able to decide if i will be able to do it myself or have someone else do it for me?? Was it very difficult to do and how much does everything come out to be??

im using the 4th gen cable. i made a bracket first to anchor the cable housing thing,(the big black plastic piece. then i made a spacer and filied two flat spot on each side so the spacer would fit in the opening. drilled a hole in the center of it and screwed it in to the swinging piece on the airbox.

was your old hot/cold cable a pull style cable? meaning with your old heater controls when you switch to hot/cold, when you switched to heat say it hauled on the cable, then when you switched to cold it pulled the cable back?

this is my dilemma, where the hot/cold cable is for it looks the same as yours except mine when the door opens and closes the "pin" underneath where you attach the cable housing goes back and forth. will this setup still work?

and i will need to go over what you said again. so you made a bracket so the housing would stay underneath and not move around correct? did you bolt it beside the pin so it would move when the door open closes or elsewhere so the housing doesnt sway back and forth when the door open/closes?

what do you mean you made a spacer and filled two flat spots on each side so the spacer would fit in the opening? something small enough to fit in the middle where the hole is?

did you get rid of the pin holding the door altogether and put in a screw?

yes in get rid of the two pins on there. drill a small hole and run a tap through it and the put a screw in there, through the spacer. i bolted the bracket through the flat slot where the 3rd gen cable snapped to.

hey what bolt holes lines up by the winshield?

one in the middle goes in fine, but the 2 outter ones on the left and right dont want to stay in. the driverside sticks out a bit and i put a bolt in but i think im stressing the dash on that side. the passenger side went in and was fine until i put the drive side one in. now the passenger side cracked, not very noticable but i dont think its ok.

any ideas?

how hard was it to install the steering wheel. did it ruin the center because the air bag was deployed or wasnt it? how can u get out the center without ruining anything.

do the air bags work if so how you hook up the right sensors to tell it to go off or do they just sense by motion. is there and custom panels that need to be made that are seen or does it look completley stock
