Quick question about quantity of paint

Hey all, I am about to buy paint to redo my 82 Z28 (finally) and I am just wondering how much to get. I will be doing the jambs, under hood, hatch and all. Please let me know. I am probably going single stage, but I would like to know how much base clear it would take as well. Thanks!!

Bill

try googling basic painting principles. as to how much it depends on how well you know how to paint, how much you think your paint out and how you apply it. typically i can get a rear quarter out of a quart of paint with a little left over. but that's at least doing a 2 stage which would be separate base and clear.

do a search here as well. painting principles have been gone over in depth here many times.

A gallon of SS will do an entire car + a lil extra for touch up's down the road. If you are just repainting using the same color and no jams then 2 quarts should do it.

6 quarts will do the entire in and out with some to spare, base clear you would need same amount of base but add a gallon of clear.
