Oh lookie here. I simply put out what I thought and then get flamed for it? Yeah real nice guys. If you can't handle something negative, don't ask what people think because some will give you a straight answer.

People are too damn nice about things here sometimes. If a person dislikes something and they voice their opinion on it, they get shot down just like I did. Take it to PM's from now on if you have a problem with me, that goes for you too Charged350.

No....The internet has made cowards brake & rude.
Do people just walk around car shows, telling every owner, face to face, what they dislike about their car? No. Try that face to face & a person is likely to get hurt. Here..Nobody sees a persons face...Nobody knows the name, because people can hide behind screen names....Knowing that if things go wrong, they can just create a new screen name tomorrow & nobody knows.
I see where he's goin with it but 1. Yes to most people it doesnt look like much. 2. Appearances are decieving just like I'm sure Charged350 see's what it's GOING to look like. It's about potential personally I like it because it's different, and Charged 350 once it's done man it's definitly gonna turn some heads you've already gone pretty far with it I personally cant wait to see the final product, good luck brother.
Hey guys how about we keep all the petty crap out of Alex's post and focus on the fact that he's making a pretty hot hood out of a hood that not many people normally like!

Well charged,I do like it but,I kinda have to agree with Stephen on having it a one piece lexan and no center. It would make the eng. not appear to be off center.Just my 2 cents.
Still looks good and you can just give people the stooooopidest look when they ask ya whats under the hood?LOL!!!
VERY NICE WORK MAN! that hood looks GREAT! That was an awesome idea. Good Job

thanx guys, i spen a lot of time on this and a lot of ot at my shop, lot of fitting and measuring and a lot of headaches and i had my doubts about how it was going to fit and look, my friend who works at a cnc machine place thye actually build cnc machine, he routed out the plexiglass for me...and hte first time it wasnt even close to fitting, then i had him redoit to my exact spect, then it fit....and after a long weekend of painting and polishing i instaled the windows so to say lol on wed nite and the car was at the show sunday....i got third which im pissed about so im taking the interior out this weekend and having everything done in black suade with blue stiching to match the car....also thinkin of gettin a pa racing tubular front end kit....more room for all the turbo piping....

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
Yeah, and as far as my goes, I like the division in the hood because it still has the shape of the IROC louveres. The engine being off center is a little strange at first, but with the turbo plumbing it won't be as noticeable. Plus it's better for handling anyway.
thanx for the kudos ladies, what you guys think i should do next, the interior is gettin done in black with blue sticking and im gettin a tubular front end kit for the car, pull the motor and paint it car color and such then i gotta build the turbo stuff....im jus tryin to figurte out what to do next after that stuff gets done...if it ever does
I'm impressed. I normally hate that hood but that looks pretty good. I do think that you should either fill the side vents or build intake tunnels to them though.
Iv never liked those hoods, but the idea is there, Because i like the stock iroc hoods, with the louvers. But the cowl on it is designed stupid, and the holes suck, Id like to make my own hood, use like a 3" Cowl hood, and make slots for louvers.

with all that being done/worked on,I would say take your time there right now and when its completely finished or planned thoroughly to every last detail, then worry whats next.Just my 2 cents! and you're welcome girlfriend!LOL!
Ive always HATED that hood... BUT... I have to say yours is the first one that Ive actually thought looked good. I was alittle skeptical when I first started watching this thread, but then I thought about all the things I do that look sort of iffy during the process, but usually turn out pretty good.
So good work!
I had a vision after looking at your finished product. If you could find a wide enough cowl hood, I can see a car with stripes, and have the windows the same width as the stripes and about as long as you have them. So, the windows sort of take the place of the stripes over top the motor. To me, that'd be hot.
As someone else mentioned...are you worried about heat + lexan? Especially after you get a turbo and piping in there, you are gonna see some underhood heat. Im not versed in lexan...but I know it forms with heat. Just curious.

yeah for now i think im gonna take my time, the interior is gonna be cake to instal again and then im pulling the motor and redoing the engine bay and all tubular suspension and then starting making my turbo kit...so when that is done...then ill plan for more...
as to how the lexan is atached, its glued in with special autobody structural adhesive i got at my shop, and the lexan was CNC machined with a lip on it so if you look under the hood, the lexan on the bottom has about another inch where its butted up against the hood and glued in, and since i had the cnc guy route it out, when you lay it in, it prety much comes over with the top of the hood...no bolts rivets or anything, kinda looks like its floating there..
and about thea heat, i havent seen any distortion of any sort and the lexan is almost half inch thick so it should be fine...i did a monster burnout after the show and no problems with it....but when you put your hand on it...you can feel that its warm.....
im not gonna lie im jealous ive always liked those hoods from the begining but with a little work u made it look a even better great work gives me some ideas for future projects take care

Wow! That's amazing? For how long it keep you busy? Great concept! I like the way you did with the side vents.
