floor pan falling off
Gah, I just found a nice present while changing my thick, cake oil:

Yeah, it looks like just this piece of the floorpan is falling off. Perhaps it rusted off before, then someone took this rusty piece and tried to glue it or something.
What are my options? I don't have much money, and don't know how to weld. Is structural adhesive good for something like this? I can just run rust converter over the piece, but I need to know how to reattach it. It's the piece of the floor pan right under the gas pedal, back towards the seat.

Have you looked in the yellow pages under welding? Its usually not very expensive to have a basic job like that done and at least you would know its going to last and be permanent--you can see how well the last glued piece lasted.

There are adhesives out there, but by the time you buy the correct adhesive and the applicator gun you'll have $100 tied up in it, maybe more.
That looks like it was installed with pop rivets and seam sealer, not a panel adhesive. I'd clean it up, put either some rivets or sheet metal screws in it just to hold it in place, then take it somewhere to get welded.

Re: floor pan falling off
I don't think any glue is stronger or as strong as a metal to metal bond. Anyway that is probably liquid weld goop. Used after tacking the floor pans into place, instead of completely welding the whole floor pan you tack a few spots (every 3" or so?) then add this around all the seams for a nice seal from the outside, just looks like this didn't hold due to the rust and flex of these cars.
P.S. That looks to be about a $60 job. Put on lift, clean area, weld, apply sealant of some sort or por15 and good to go. Wish my pans were just a spot like that instead of holes along the door sill area. make sure your carpet doesnt catch fire when this gets welded, just wet the carpet or remove seat and lift that portion of the carpet.

Re: floor pan falling off
Maaco wants $320 for it. Gah. They said its a good piece of metal, but they'd clean it up, undercoat it, and then weld on a piece from the top just for security. 8 hours of labor or something.
It sounded very fishy though, because they asked me if it was for an inspection or not, and when I said no, they talked about how it wouldn't need to be scrutinized...
If its' this expensive, I'm better off spending 40 bucks on some 3m panel adhesive.
