Water leaking on driver & passenger side under carpet
Every time it rains, I get puddles of water under the carpet on both the driver and passenger side floor pans. The water is getting in under the hood where the firewall meets the wheel wells and am looking for any advice/experience on how to repair these areas to prevent the water from getting in.
I'd appreciate any advice in this matter.
Thanks

Re: Water leaking on driver & passenger side under carpet
have you pulled up the carpet and seen exactly where it's leaking from? water's a tricky opponent and has a way of traveling quite a ways from its actual entry point. there should be seam sealer where the panels come together, but it could have cracked and fallen off by now (causing the issue you've got).

Re: Water leaking on driver & passenger side under carpet
I did find the exact entry point, where the firewall meets the wheel well it is all rusted out. I actually stuck a long screw driver into this area and saw the tip sticking through from the passenger compartment of the car. I'm assuming that I'm probably going to have to pull a whole bunch of stuff out of the engine compartment and do a bit of cleaning and welding. Although, I've just been thinking about welding some plates on the inside of the passenger compartment as a temp. fix. I'm hoping to drop a new motor in the car sometime this fall....and while it's out...should make it easier to do what I need to do to fix the leak from it's source??

Re: Water leaking on driver & passenger side under carpet
Hi,
i have a problem at the same spot (only on the passenger side though).
In my case there is no actual hole but a leak where two metal sheets meet on the firewall.
I don't really know what to do there either, because it's very hard to reach with the evaporative case in the way.
I was thinking about flushing the area with some kind of sealant, but i have no idea what to use?!
If it's possible at all, i'd really prefer not to remove the AC-parts...
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english

Any auto parts store will have rolls of a very sticky black goo (like the black goo over the hole for the hood release - it's about 1 in wide, the roll is about the size of a pie pan. You could get that, and mash it on the inside area where you can reach. Wear disposable gloves - it's nasty sticky gooey ![lol](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif)

They didn't have those sticky rolls, but i also think that would still be difficult to apply, since it's pretty hard to reach, and even harder to get something that sticky in place...
Thanks to both of you (and the whole thridgen.org community of course
