Can I seperate the decklid from the hatch glass?

As most of you know, Im repainting my car. Im trying to get this apart so its easier to paint. (and load up to take to my painter) Can the glass be seperated from the decklid? If so, how? and any adhesive needed to reattach? Thanks

Yes, they can be separated, they are bolted together.

Re: Can I seperate the decklid from the hatch glass?

Okayyyy. So sir it is quite easy. There is a plastic cover held on by 4 phillips screws. once thats off prop up the window and take out the two 7mm bolts holding the struts on. Slide the struts off. make sure your prop is stong cause its gonna be heavy! Then there are 8 or 10 13mm nuts holding the metal strut holder to the hatch. Take the holder off and then there is a black tar type of sealant holding the actual glass to the metal hatch. Just wiggle it up and down softly and eventually itll pop off. Clean the black sealer off with a razor and there yah go. And to put it back on to seal it you use a black round weather sealer/strip that comes in aroll. But becareful with it its crazy sticky. Good luck to you sir.

Thanks guys, the hatch is actually off the car right now, so shouldnt be a big deal. I need to clean up the edge molding too and repaint it. Back out to the garage!
