Swing Lift Ground Effects

I am trying to buy a used 1992 camaro. I took it to a mechanic with the seller. The seller would not let the mechanic lift it up with a swing lift because it would crack the grounf effects. Is this true? also the brake light was on. They said that they replaced a brake line and that it will about 50 miles before it goes off. Is this also true?

I've never heard of a swing-arm type lift cracking ground effects, but without seeing it I really couldn't answer you with 100% certainty.

As for the brake light, that is complete BS. I just replaced 2 lines on my 92 Camaro last winter and the brake light never came on.

It REALLY sounds like this seller did some half-assed repairs and is trying to pawn the car off on the first sucker he can find. Unless you plan on going over the car with a fine-tooth comb and can fix any issues yourself I would turn around and walk away. ESPECIALLY if you're planning on using this as your DD/primary car.

Re: Swing Lift Ground Effects

The only way the lift would hurt the ground fx, is if there is a dumb lift operator. And apparently there was one, or he could have EASILY shown how they prevent that from happening.

The arms have different height arm ends, to reach up & to a good lifting point. Anywhere from 1" tall to 5" tall. All depends on which end the operator puts in. So if anything breaks, it is the operators fault, not the lifts fault.

Re: Swing Lift Ground Effects

its not problem lifting any car with a lift, with proper blocking, nothing will be damaged.

maybe the seller is trying to hide something? rotted floors? hack brake repair? i would defiantly look it over before buying it.

Re: Swing Lift Ground Effects
