lock ripped out?

Car: 1990 camaro rs
Engine: 305 tbi
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 2.73
lock ripped out?

So I walked out to my car today and on the passenger side the lock was haning out of the door? didn't look like it was forced out but could it really just fall out of the door? or could it have been a possible break in attempt?

Only a clip (#5) and rod hold the lock in place.

Its just held in by one spring clip, if that came off the lock would be able to fall at least partially out.

If there aren't any pry marks or scratches around the lock, it probably wasn't a break in attempt.

how do I fix it, or the better question how do i get the clip back on?

You'll have to remove the door panel to access the rod and clip.

doesnt sound easy, is there a thread on how to do this? or at least removing the door panel?
