Painting my car

So my plan was do try and go for an lt1 swap but I wasnt able to save up as much as I planned.

So instead im going with fixing what should be done first.

The engine runs fine except I need a new electric choke and some leaks that are about to be taken care of.

The paint is all original, some fading and cracking, except for the rear quarter panel is a little suspicious. There wasnt anything in the carfax that showed it was in an accident so im praying nothing bad.

Some rust in the rear quarter panels and a tiny bit the door jam.

My plan is to paint it red, may not be the exact red.

My question. Ive searched and was woundering if anyone could write up a list of all materials needed. For instance, how many tack rags, the different kinds of sand paper and what they should be used for, roughly amount of paint needed and things like that.

Maybe if someone gets bored they could do that and it could be saved for everyone else to use.

I havnt painted a car before but I took a couple classes learning how to paint fenders and doors in school for college credit.

I want to make sure I have everything I need. And sorry for the long write up I just kind of ramble.

It looks good in the pictures, but once you get up to it in person you can see all its imperfections. Its my baby

Looks good. Are you gonna paint it all red or keep the two-tone look with the silver?

Im torn between silver or black with the black hood stripes.

The decals were taken off by the owner when it started flaking off. I mite paint it on because i love to paint and dont like stickers

Re: Painting my car

Yea, I had it up for a bit but I decided to keep it. I got ripped off by my mechanic(neighbor whose got his own shop). $100 to replace hood struts when I didnt even ask to replace them and then another 100 to replace coolant hoses. And then what really ticked me off was he rebuilt my power steering pump and it was still leaking so I took it back and he said it needs to be replaced.

Oh, and he put the idle at 500 rpm and said he replaced the electric choke even yet the problem never stopped.

Im most likely going to keep it original colors(may not be exact tint or w.e.)

The only thing I want to change is an LT1 swap.
