T-Top rust problem
Hi, wonder can anyone advise...
The center bar of my T-tops is rusty; I spotted some on the plates that have the three screws in, but even removing those screws hasn't allowed me to remove those plates.
Whats the story there? I want to remove them and either replace or refurb them.
And does the top trim strip, the black one that the glass goes under, come off anyhow?
Thanks
Andy

Re: T-Top rust problem
That T-Bar is one piece. You have the 3 screws on each side, and you have 2 screws on the back side and the front side of the T-Bar. Those are located under the weatherstripping. You'll have to pull that back carefully to get to those. Here's a picture of what it looks like without the weatherstripping in. The screws should be where the T-Bar ends and the channel starts, but mine was rusted out. The picture should give you an idea anyhow.
There is a gasket in the front and rear under the T-Bar. It's probably still good so just work the T-Bar off carefully.
The hard part comes when you have to put this stuff back on. Sure, its easy to put back on but you may have leaks. I used the 3M Weatherstripping Adhesive for mine as well as Silicone under the T-Bar, especially where the overlapping metal is under those gaskets. Also, pull the weatherstripping tight in the corners and hold it there til the glue sets up. I had to do mine twice before I found that out.
